The mural left anterior descending coronary artery, strenuous exercise and sudden death.
TLDR
Postmortem studies of three ostensibly healthy persons whose unheralded death occurred incidental to strenuous exercise revealed an unobstructed but mural left anterior descending (LAD) artery, diminished vascularity to the posterior left ventricle and ventricular septum, and morphologic evidence of patchy, ischemic necrosis of the vents in different stages of healing.Abstract:
Postmortem studies of three ostensibly healthy persons whose unheralded death occurred incidental to strenuous exercise revealed an obstructed but mural left anterior descending (LAD) artery, diminished vascularity to the posterior left ventricle and ventricular septum, and morphologic evidence of patchy, ischemic necrosis of the ventricular septum in different stages of healing. Although mural coronary arteries are considered a normal anatomic variant, our observations, coupled with reported clinical studies, strongly suggest that systolic constriction of the LAD artery may precipitate death in selected subjects.read more

TL;DR: Sudden death in young competitive athletes usually is precipitated by physical activity and may be due to a heterogeneous spectrum of cardiovascular disease, most commonly hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

TL;DR: Analysis of clinical and pathological findings in seven people in whom nonintravenous "recreational" use of cocaine was temporally related to acute myocardial infarction, ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation, myocarditis, sudden death, or a combination of these events suggests cocaine has medical consequences that are equal in importance to its well-documented psychosocial consequences.

Causes of sudden death in competitive athletes.
TL;DR: Cardiovascular diseases responsible for sudden unexpected death in highly conditioned athletes are largely related to the age of the patient, and diseases that appear to be very uncommon causes of sudden death include myocarditis, mitral valve prolapse, aortic valve stenosis and sarcoidosis.

Prinzmetal's variant form of angina as a manifestation of alpha-adrenergic receptor-mediated coronary artery spasm: Documentation by coronary arteriography
TL;DR: In four patients with Prinzmetal's variant form of angina, the attack was induced by the combined administration of epinephrine and propranolol and severe spasm of a large coronary artery mediated by alpha-adrenergic receptors is responsible for the attack.

Coronary Artery Spasm as a Cause of Acute Myocardial Ischemia in Man
TL;DR: It appears reasonable to assume that a coronary spasm may be the cause of the acute reduction of coronary blood supply responsible for the transient myocardial ischemia in patients with so-called variant angina.

Myocardial bridging and milking effect of the left anterior descending coronary artery: normal variant or obstruction?
TL;DR: It is concluded that a grade 3 milking effect observed at coronary arteriography can result in significant obstruction of the left anterior descending coronary artery with typical angina and anterior wall ischemia during tachycardia.

TL;DR: The mural coronary artery provides one further example of the paramount importance of local factors in the genesis of atheroma, and seems to be related to a medialike protective action of the surrounding myocardium.

TL;DR: It is concluded that coronary arterial spasm can be induced by exercise and can cause exertional angina in some patients and diltiazem and nifedipine, calcium antagonistic drugs, prevent spasm.
