The song system of the human brain
TLDR
Melody repetition and harmonization produced highly similar patterns of activation, however, whereas all three tasks activated secondary auditory cortex (posterior Brodmann Area 22), only melody repetition and Harmonization activated the planum polare (BA 38), implying that BA 38 is responsible for an even higher level of musical processing than BA 22.About:

Principles of Neural Science
TL;DR: The editors have done a masterful job of weaving together the biologic, the behavioral, and the clinical sciences into a single tapestry in which everyone from the molecular biologist to the practicing psychiatrist can find and appreciate his or her own research.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Enigmatic temporal pole: a review of findings on social and emotional processing.
TL;DR: It is proposed that the temporal pole binds complex, highly processed perceptual inputs to visceral emotional responses, which means that the integration of emotion with perception is channel specific.

Passive music listening spontaneously engages limbic and paralimbic systems.
TL;DR: In this PET study, non-musicians passively listened to unfamiliar instrumental music revealed afterward to elicit strongly pleasant feelings and spontaneous responses in limbic and paralimbic areas during passive listening to unfamiliar although liked music.

Stuttered and fluent speech production: an ALE meta-analysis of functional neuroimaging studies
TL;DR: The phenomenon of efference copy is proposed as a unifying account of the pattern activation revealed within this ALE meta‐analysis of imaging studies of chronic developmental stuttering in adults, providing the basis for a stuttering system model that is testable and should help to advance the understanding and treatment of this disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for Plasticity in White-Matter Tracts of Patients with Chronic Broca's Aphasia Undergoing Intense Intonation-based Speech Therapy
TL;DR: Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) finds a significant increase in the number of AF fibers and AF volume comparing post‐ with pretreatment assessments in six patients, suggesting that intense, long‐term MIT leads to remodeling of the right AF and may provide an explanation for the sustained therapy effects.

The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex
TL;DR: In this paper, secondary sexual characters of fishes, amphibians and reptiles are presented. But the authors focus on the secondary sexual characteristics of fishes and amphibians rather than the primary sexual characters.
