TLDR

Free vibration of Euler and Timoshenko functionally graded beams by Rayleigh–Ritz method

TL;DR: In this paper, the free vibration analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) beams subjected to different sets of boundary conditions is performed based on the classical and first order shear deformation beam theories.

The role of non-linear theories in transient dynamic analysis of flexible structures

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the use of a first-order linear beam theory results in a spurious loss of bending stiffness, and that a geometrically non-linear (at least second-order) beam theory is sufficient to account for the influence of centrifugal force on bending stiffness.

Free vibration analysis of a cylindrical shell—circular plate system with general coupling and various boundary conditions

TL;DR: In this article, the free vibration of a structure consisting of a finite circular cylindrical shell closed at one end by a circular plate is analyzed by means of continuous distributions of springs along the shell and the plate interface.

Dynamic stability of a rotating sandwich beam with magnetorheological elastomer core

TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamic stability of a rotating three layered symmetric sandwich beam with magnetorheological elastomer core and conductive skins subjected to axial periodic loads has been investigated using finite element method.

Comments on «natural frequencies of rectangular plates using characteristic orthogonal polynomials in Rayleigh-Ritz method»

TL;DR: In this paper, a set of beam characteristic orthogonal polynomials in the Rayleigh-Ritz method was used to obtain the natural frequencies of rectangular plates. But the results for lower modes were not as good as those obtained by other methods.

Vibration of a rotating beam with tip mass

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of the root radius, the setting angle and the tip mass are incorporated into the finite element model to investigate the vibration frequency of a rotating beam with tip mass.
