Infinite Conformal Symmetry in Two-Dimensional Quantum Field Theory
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an investigation of the massless, two-dimentional, interacting field theories and their invariance under an infinite-dimensional group of conformal transformations.
Journal ArticleDOI
The renormalization group and critical phenomena
TL;DR: In this article, a simplified presentation of the basic ideas of the renormalization group and the ε expansion applied to critical phenomena is given, following roughly a summary exposition given in 1972.
Journal ArticleDOI
Boundary S matrix and boundary state in two-dimensional integrable quantum field theory
TL;DR: The boundary cross-unitarity equation as discussed by the authors is the boundary analog of the crossing-symmetry condition of the "bulk" S matrix of the Ising field theory with boundary magnetic field and the boundary sine-Gordon model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Walks, walls, wetting, and melting
TL;DR: In this paper, a general mechanism yielding phase transitions in one-dimensional or linear systems is recalled and applied to various wetting and melting phenomena in (d = 2)-dimensional systems, including fluid films and p×1 commensurate adsorbed phases, in which interfaces and domain walls can be modelled by noncrossing walks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetism in ultrathin film structures
TL;DR: In this article, the results of recent experimental and theoretical studies of well characterized epitaxial structures based on Fe, Co and Ni to illustrate how intrinsic fundamental properties such as the magnetic exchange interactions, magnetic moment and magnetic anisotropies change markedly in ultrathin films as compared with their bulk counterparts, and to emphasize the role of atomic scale structure, strain and crystallinity in determining the magnetic properties.

Crystal statistics. I. A two-dimensional model with an order-disorder transition
TL;DR: In this article, the eigenwert problem involved in the corresponding computation for a long strip crystal of finite width, joined straight to itself around a cylinder, is solved by direct product decomposition; in the special case $n=\ensuremath{\infty}$ an integral replaces a sum.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nonanalytic Behavior Above the Critical Point in a Random Ising Ferromagnet
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that in a class of randomly diluted Ising ferromagnets the magnetization fails to be an analytic function of the field at a range of temperatures above that at which spontaneous magnetization first appears.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dimer Statistics and Phase Transitions
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the configurational partition function of a generalized dimer system can be expressed in terms of a Pfaffian, and hence calculated explicitly, if the lattice graph is planar and if the dimers occupy all lattice sites.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spin spin correlation functions for the two-dimensional Ising model: Exact theory in the scaling region
TL;DR: In this article, the spin-spin correlation functions for the two-dimensional Ising model on a square lattice in zero magnetic field for T>Tc and T
Journal ArticleDOI
Correlations and Spontaneous Magnetization of the Two‐Dimensional Ising Model
TL;DR: In this article, the Pfaffian approach is used to derive correlations in terms of Pfaffians, and for the correlations in a row a single Toeplitz determinant is obtained which is proved equivalent to the Onsager-Kaufman result.
