TLDR
There is little evidence that operation early rather than late within the age range of 4 to 14 years has any effect on subsequent fertility, and there is evidence that orchidopexy may result in testicular atrophy in a small proportion of cases, a trial of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) may be advisable.

Aetiology of testicular cancer: association with congenital abnormalities, age at puberty, infertility, and exercise

TL;DR: This study confirms previous reports that developmental urogenital abnormalities result in an increased risk of testicular cancer and suggests the trend to perform orchidopexy at younger ages may reduce the risk associated with undescended testis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Predictors of outcome of long-term GnRH therapy in men with idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.

TL;DR: Pulsatile GnRH therapy in IHH men is very successful in inducing androgen production and spermatogenesis, and normalization of the LH-Leydig cell-T axis is achieved more uniformly than the FSH-Sertoli cell-I(B) axis during Gn RH therapy; and favorable predictors for achieving an adult testicular size and consequently optimizing sperMatogenesis are prior history of sexual maturation, a baseline I(B).

Risk of testicular cancer in cohort of boys with cryptorchidism

TL;DR: Biopsy seems to be a stronger risk factor for testicular cancer than any factor previously identified in boys with cryptorchidism treated by orchidopexy or hormones.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemiology of testicular cancer.

TL;DR: The evidence is presented to support or refute the association between the well‐established and the less well-established risk factors and the incidence of testicular cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Germ cell apoptosis after treatment of cryptorchidism with human chorionic gonadotropin is associated with impaired reproductive function in the adult.

TL;DR: Apoptotic loss of spermatogonia after hCG treatment of cryptorchidism warrants reevaluation of the safety of this treatment, and findings in the semen analysis were similar between the groups.

The descent of the testis.

TL;DR: This study is based on observations made on boys at birth, during infancy, and throughout early child- hood to find out how often the testes are tested and what happened that were not.
Journal ArticleDOI

Risk factors for cancer of the testis in young men.

TL;DR: An individually matched case‐control study of testis cancer in 131 men under age 40 was counducted to investigate antecedent risk factors including events during prenatal life, and a hypothesis linking these three factors is presented.

Estrogen Exposure During Gestation and Risk of Testicular Cancer

TL;DR: A modified hormonal milieu in the mother appears to be important in the later development of testicular cancer in her sons, and exposure of the mother to exogenous estrogen during pregnancy created a significant risk in the son.

Standards for investigation of human semen Untersuchungsstandards für das menschliche Sperma La standardisation de l'analyse du sperme humain

TL;DR: A proposal for standardization of the analyses of human semen is presented with special emphasis on the necessity to perform accurate evaluation of sperm morphology, to determine the percentage of dead cells and to carry out biochemical analyses of the seminal plasma to evaluate the secretory function of the accessory genital glands.
