Intercalation strategies in clay/polymer hybrids

TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarize the recent progress on clay modification via conventional ion exchange reactions, sol-gel linking, atom transfer radical polymerization, and polymer intercalation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Materials design of layered silicates through covalent modification of interlayer surfaces

TL;DR: In this paper, a review summarizes covalent modifications of layered silicates, such as magadiite, kanemite, kenyaite, layered octosilicate (RUB-18 or ilerite), and layered zeolitic materials (or their precursors).
Journal ArticleDOI

Vibrational Spectroscopic Studies of Layered Silicates

TL;DR: The FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra of three-layered silicates, magadiite, kenyaite, and ilerite have been measured as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interlamellar grafting of γ-methacryloxypropylsilyl groups on magadiite and copolymerization with methyl methacrylate

TL;DR: In this article, an organic modified magadiite was prepared by grafting γ-methacryloxypropylsilyl (γ-MPS) groups to the interlayer surface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis and Properties of Covalently Bonded Layered Silicates/Polyimide (BTDA-ODA) Nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this article, the thermal, mechanical, and moisture absorption retardation properties of these nanocomposites were found to improve substantially over those of neat BTDA-ODA, with a maximum increase of 36 °C in degradation temperature and a maximum reduction of 54% in moisture absorption.
