Minimizing investment cost for multi-period heat exchanger network retrofit by matching heat transfer areas with different strategies

TL;DR: In this paper, three strategies of matching heat transfer areas are proposed to minimize the investment cost for the retrofit of HEN in multi-period, in which replacement of heat exchangers, addition of heat exchange and addition of Heat Transfer Areas are performed.

Evaluation of Synergy Effect in the Horizontal Merger of Companies in a Petrochemical Complex

TL;DR: In this article, a mathematical model that represents the operation of a process network and a utility plant and the decisions for purchasing and selling contracts is formulated, and the results show that synergy effects from integration of the process networks and the utility system, reduction of fixed costs, and increased market share are obtained.

A Simple Method for Finding Optimal Paths of Hot and Cold Streams inside Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers to Reduce Pumping Cost in Heat Exchanger Network Problems

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple method is presented for the synthesis and retrofit of heat exchanger networks by considering pressure drop as well as finding proper path of streams inside heat exchangers (HEs) to reduce the pumping cost of network.

Simplification of Data Acquisition in Process Integration Retrofit Studies Based on Uncertainty and Sensitivity Analysis

TL;DR: A method aimed at the simplification of the data acquisition step in process integration retrofit analysis was shown to be capable of narrowing the focus of the analysis to only the most influencing data, ultimately reducing the excessive time consumption in the collection of unimportant data.
