Characterization of fiber-laser-based sub-Doppler NICE-OHMS for quantitative trace gas detection.

TL;DR: The potential of fiber-laser-based sub-Doppler noise-immune cavity-enhanced optical heterodyne molecular spectrometry for trace gas detection is scrutinized and the linearity of the signal strength with concentration is demonstrated and the dynamic range of the technique is discussed.

The interrogation and multiplexing of long period grating curvature sensors using a Bragg grating based, derivative spectroscopy technique

TL;DR: In this article, a long period grating is interrogated with a fiber Bragg grating using a derivative spectroscopy technique, and a quasi-linear relationship between the output of the sensing scheme and the curvature experienced by the grating was demonstrated, with a sensitivity of 5.05 m and an average curvature resolution of 2.9 × 10-2 m-1.

Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and the Optical and Thermodynamic Properties of PrAlGe2O7

TL;DR: Germanate PrAlGe2O7 is obtained from initial oxides Pr2O3, Al 2O3 and GeO2 via solid phase synthesis as mentioned in this paper, and the crystal structure of the investigated germanate is determined via X-ray diffraction.

Clays and clay minerals: What can Mössbauer spectroscopy do to help understand them?

Enver Murad
TL;DR: Mossbauer spectroscopy is a powerful technique for the characterization of materials formed in the weathering environment as mentioned in this paper, however, it is often restricted to the determination of the oxidation state of iron and average structural site distortions.

Infrared Lattice Spectra of Cubic Rare Earth Oxides in the Region 700 to 50 cm −1

TL;DR: In this article, the infrared lattice spectra from 700 to 50 cm−1 of eight cubic rare earth oxides were reported, and it was evident from these data that the crystal structure determined the frequency position, and clearly showed the effect of the lanthanide contraction in this series of compounds.
