Vibrations of straight and curved composite beams: A review

TLDR
In this paper, the authors review most of the research done in recent years (1989-2012) on the vibration analysis of composite beams, with emphasis given to the theory being applied (thin, thick, layerwise), methods for solving equations (finite element analysis, differential transform and others) experimental methods, smart beams (piezoelectric or shape memory), complicating effects in both material and structure, and other areas that have been considered in research.

A review on optimization of composite structures Part I: Laminated composites

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reviewed most of the studies carried out from 2000 on optimizing composite structures by representing a classification based on the type of structures and highlighted important parameters of these optimization approaches namely objective functions, design variables, constraints and the applied algorithms.

An analytical assessment of finite element and isogeometric analyses of the whole spectrum of Timoshenko beams

TL;DR: In this paper, the theoretical results relevant to the vibration modes of Timoshenko beams are used as benchmarks for assessing the correctness of the numerical values provided by several finite element models, based on either the traditional Lagrangian interpolation or on the recently developed isogeometric approach.

Nonlinear vibration of a rotating laminated composite circular cylindrical shell: traveling wave vibration

TL;DR: In this article, the large-amplitude (geometrically nonlinear) vibrations of rotating, laminated composite circular cylindrical shells subjected to radial harmonic excitation in the neighborhood of the lowest resonances are investigated.

Time-dependent behavior of porous curved nanobeam

TL;DR: In this article, a geometrically exact model is developed for the simply-supported beam utilizing a higher-order beam theory including thickness stretching effect, and the virtual work statement of Hamilton principle is adopted to gain the governing equation as well as boundary conditions.
