Volcanism in Iceland in historical time: Volcano types, eruption styles and eruptive history

TLDR
In this paper, the authors identified 205 eruptions in historical time by detailed mapping and dating of events along with extensive research on documentation of volcanic activity in historical chronicles and classified them into three categories: effusive, effusive and mixed.

A review of natural aerosol interactions and feedbacks within the Earth system

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review the impact of natural systems on atmospheric aerosol based on observations and models, including the potential for long term changes in emissions and the feedbacks on climate.

Ash generation and distribution from the April-May 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull, Iceland

TL;DR: The 39-day long eruption at the summit of Eyjafjallajökull volcano in April–May 2010 was of modest size but ash was widely dispersed, combining data from ground surveys and remote sensing to show that the erupted material was 4.8±1.2·1011 kg.

Magma chambers: Formation, local stresses, excess pressures, and compartments

TL;DR: In this paper, the in-situ tensile strength of a magma-chamber is estimated based on hydraulic fracture measurements in drill-holes worldwide down to crustal depths of about 9 km.

Gradual caldera collapse at Bárdarbunga volcano, Iceland, regulated by lateral magma outflow

TL;DR: It is concluded that interaction between the pressure exerted by the subsiding reservoir roof and the physical properties of the subsurface flow path explain the gradual near-exponential decline of both the collapse rate and the intensity of the 180-day-long eruption of the Bárdarbunga volcano.

Comparison of the Atkins, Zone, Ornish, and LEARN Diets for Change in Weight and Related Risk Factors Among Overweight Premenopausal Women: The A TO Z Weight Loss Study: A Randomized Trial

TL;DR: In this study, premenopausal overweight and obese women assigned to follow the Atkins diet, which had the lowest carbohydrate intake, lost more weight and experienced more favorable overall metabolic effects at 12 months than women assignedto follow the Zone, Ornish, or LEARN diets.

Volcanic and structural evolution of Taupo Volcanic Zone, New Zealand: a review

TL;DR: The history of the Taupo Volcanic Zone (TVZ) can be divided into two categories: the old TVZ from 2.0 Ma to 0.34 Ma and the young TVZ between 0.9 and 0.6 Ma as discussed by the authors.

Explosive volcanic eruptions — a new classification scheme

TL;DR: In this paper, a classification of pyroclastic fall deposits is proposed based on measurements made on the resulting pyro-clastic-fall deposits, the significant parameters being the area of dispersal and degree of fragmentation of the material.
