The article considers the network layer by discussing extensions that are being made to the widely used Internet protocol (IP) to deal with mobility (wired or wireless) and speculating on future directions for wireless LAN systems.Abstract:
The emerging widespread use of wireless LAN systems together with the users' desire for such systems to interoperate has created a requirement for standards. Many standards bodies are currently defining standards for wireless systems that relate to different layers of the networking protocol stack. Of these, two influential physical and data link layer standards, IEEE 802.11 and the European HIPERLAN, are described. The article then considers the network layer by discussing extensions that are being made to the widely used Internet protocol (IP) to deal with mobility (wired or wireless). The final standards that are discussed relate to wireless link management. The article concludes by speculating on future directions for wireless LAN systems.read more

Communication quality control scheme by using priority control mechanism for ethernet‐based wireless LANs
TL;DR: Investigation of CoS control scheme in IEEE 802.11 system, which is Ethernet wireless LAN standardized by IEEE 802 Committee, finds that the bounded delay time and the bandwidth guarantee are realized, providing the best effort with higher priority in the contention control.

Measurements and characterisation of RMS delay spread and coherence bandwidth in indoor radio channel at millimetre waves
A. Hammoudeh,D. Scammell +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present results of frequency domain measurements conducted using a channel sounder with a 2 GHz sweep bandwidth and omni-directional receive antenna to characterise the RMS delay spread and coherence bandwidth for indoor environments in the band 63.4 GHz-65.4GHz.

Spatial Design for Healthy and Effective Electromagnetic Wave Propagation
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluate current power intensity levels in building environments and develop guidelines for design professionals by understanding building materials properties, which will promote healthy and effective wireless communication in the building environment that pushes the envelope of building design.

On the generation of side information for frequency hopping multiple access in Rice fading
TL;DR: Frequency hopping is considered for its less stringent power control requirements with respect to direct sequence, and while BDR a's more robust than RTT for the synchronous case, the opposite seems to hold in the asynchronous case.

Highly dynamic Destination-Sequenced Distance-Vector routing (DSDV) for mobile computers
TL;DR: The modifications address some of the previous objections to the use of Bellman-Ford, related to the poor looping properties of such algorithms in the face of broken links and the resulting time dependent nature of the interconnection topology describing the links between the Mobile hosts.
IP Mobility Support

Mobility support in IPv6
TL;DR: This document specifies Mobile IPv6, a protocol which allows nodes to remain reachable while moving around in the IPv6 Internet, and defines a new IPv6 protocol and a new destination option.
