A further purpose is to show that the tolerance of an SMPS to line-voltage sags can be improved by: (1) using a larger dc capacitor; (2) operating at less than the power rating; and (3) using power factor correction.
The results provide comparison of changes in efficiencies, power factors and waveform distortion of SMPS' operating at different powers and under both ideally sinusoidal and distorted supply voltage conditions.
Results are promising and implementation, carried out in a portable multimeter prototype, only requires a small amount of the computing power already available inside most portable equipments.
Therefore, the evaluation of SMPs is crucial for the development and application of SMPs.
The experimental results show that the proposed method can extract the noise source impedance of SMPS in wide frequency band with sufficient accuracy.

As such, the performance of this equipment operating in unprotected ac supply systems reflects the behavior of the SMPS to the voltage surges and sags that are endemic to power systems not protected by UPS.
Our results agree very well with SMPS measurements available in the literature.
A comparison of conventional SMPS with proposed PFC-based SMPS vividly brings out the merits of the latter.
Measured dynamic performances are superior to conventional digital controllers for dc/dc SMPS.
Considering that a large number of SMPS are being used in various applications, it is essential to maintain good power quality at the AC mains side of the SMPS circuit adhering to the international standards.
