This work provides not only an insight into the chemical nature of the fire atmosphere but is an essential part of the understanding of the overall hazards presented by fires and can show the wider ways in which the problems of combustion products can be solved.
In addition, we note that oxidation reactions strongly influence the nature of the combustion gases in case of fire.
Fire occurs in most ecoregions.
Results of this study indicated that in vitro methods could be a potential technique for assessing the toxicity of fire combustion products.
Our results have implications for the use of global burned area products in fire ecology, management and emissions applications.
