The main advantage of this new combustion process relies on the noticeable higher engine efficiency obtained with respect to conventional spark ignition operation, and on the strong reduction of NO X emissions.
The thermodynamic results show that the combustion process can be optimized to an ideal engine cycle.
The 3-D engine prediction results also indicated that the optimized mechanism can better present the in-cylinder combustion characteristics.
