In this paper, a novel type of switch is proposed that could reduce the stress sensitivity of the switch as well as providing a low actuation voltage.
Experimental results proved that the system can be operated by controlling the electrical signals supplied to the ECM actuators.
This framework can also be applied to other types of MEMS actuators, including electrostatic comb drives.
This model can also be used with other types of piezoelectric actuators with a slight modification.
Experimental results proved that the valve can be easily operated by controlling the electrical signals supplied to the ECM actuators.
Chosen electrostatic actuators decrease the power consumption of the switch near to zero and provides good contact force which results less contact resistance.
This property can make electrostrictive polymers useful actuators.

ER actuators are thus suited to be the actuators used in force feedback systems.
As a result, the performance and reliability of dielectric elastomers actuators can be substantially improved.
