Isotropic-liquid crystalline phase diagram of a CdSe nanorod solution.
Liang-shi Li,Liang-shi Li,Małgorzata Marjańska,Gregory H.J. Park,Alexander Pines,A. Paul Alivisatos +5 more
TL;DR: The coexistence concentrations of both phases are found to be lower and the biphasic region wider than the results predicted by the hard rod model, indicating that the attractive interaction between the nanorods may be important in the formation of the liquid crystalline phase in this system.
Journal Article
Luminescent nanocrystal stress gauge
TL;DR: The CdSe-CdS core-shell tetrapod nanocrystal is presented, a local stress sensor with bright luminescence readout that may be incorporated into a variety of micromechanical systems including materials and biological samples to quantify local stresses with high spatial resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tailoring Morphology of Cu–Ag Nanocrescents and Core–Shell Nanocrystals Guided by a Thermodynamic Model
Wojciech T. Osowiecki,Wojciech T. Osowiecki,Xingchen Ye,Pratima Satish,Karen C. Bustillo,Ezra L. Clark,Ezra L. Clark,A. Paul Alivisatos +7 more
TL;DR: The synthesis and characterization of stable, monodisperse, and solution-processed Cu-Ag bimetallic nanoparticles with specific but unusual elemental arrangements that are consistent with a recently developed thermodynamic model are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
The chain of chirality transfer in tellurium nanocrystals.
Assaf Ben-Moshe,Assaf Ben-Moshe,Alessandra da Silva,Alexander Müller,Alexander Müller,Anas Abu-Odeh,Anas Abu-Odeh,Patrick Harrison,Jacob Waelder,Farnaz Niroui,Colin Ophus,Andrew M. Minor,Andrew M. Minor,Mark Asta,Mark Asta,Wolfgang Theis,Peter Ercius,A. Paul Alivisatos,A. Paul Alivisatos +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, an investigation of model tellurium nanocrystals provides insights into the chain of chirality transfer between crystal structure and shape, and it is shown that this transfer is mediated by screw dislocations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Controlling localized surface plasmon resonances in GeTe nanoparticles using an amorphous-to-crystalline phase transition
Mark J. Polking,Prashant K. Jain,Yehonadav Bekenstein,Uri Banin,Oded Millo,Ramamoorthy Ramesh,Ramamoorthy Ramesh,A. Paul Alivisatos,A. Paul Alivisatos +8 more
TL;DR: Infrared absorption measurements ofAmorphous and crystalline nanoparticles of GeTe reveal a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) mode in the crystalline phase that is absent in the amorphous phase.
