Journal ArticleDOI
Patient-Reported Outcomes Through 5 Years for Active Surveillance, Surgery, Brachytherapy, or External Beam Radiation With or Without Androgen Deprivation Therapy for Localized Prostate Cancer.
Karen E. Hoffman,David F. Penson,Zhiguo Zhao,Li-Ching Huang,Ralph Conwill,Aaron A. Laviana,Daniel D. Joyce,Amy N. Luckenbaugh,Michael Goodman,Ann S. Hamilton,Xiao-Cheng Wu,Lisa E. Paddock,Antoinette M. Stroup,Matthew R. Cooperberg,Mia Hashibe,Brock O'Neil,Sherrie H. Kaplan,Sheldon Greenfield,Tatsuki Koyama,Daniel A. Barocas +19 more
TL;DR: Function outcomes associated with prostate cancer treatments over 5 years after treatment were compared to help understand adverse effects of contemporary treatment approaches and inform treatment selection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Utilizing time‐driven activity‐based costing to understand the short‐ and long‐term costs of treating localized, low‐risk prostate cancer
Aaron A. Laviana,Annette M. Ilg,Darlene Veruttipong,Hung-Jui Tan,Michael A. Burke,Douglas Niedzwiecki,Patrick A. Kupelian,Christopher R. King,Michael L. Steinberg,Chandan R. Kundavaram,Mitchell Kamrava,Alan L. Kaplan,Andrew K. Moriarity,William Hsu,Daniel Margolis,Jim C. Hu,Christopher S. Saigal +16 more
TL;DR: The results of time‐driven activity‐based costing (TDABC) for competing treatments of low‐risk prostate cancer for men with prostate cancer are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Retroperitoneal versus transperitoneal robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy: a matched-pair, bicenter analysis with cost comparison using time-driven activity-based costing.
TL;DR: In two high-volume, tertiary centers, retroperitoneal RALPN is associated with reduced operative times and shortened LOS in posterior and lateral tumors, whereas sharing similar clinicopathologic outcomes, which may translate into lower healthcare costs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sacral Neuromodulation for Refractory Overactive Bladder, Interstitial Cystitis, and Painful Bladder Syndrome
TL;DR: Various pelvic floor conditions, including overactive bladder syndrome and chronic pelvic pain, have been successfully managed with the neuromodulation of sacral nerves with the implantation of a programmable pulse generator through the S3 foramen.
Journal ArticleDOI
Healthcare Costs of Post-Prostate Biopsy Sepsis.
Michael D. Gross,Mark N. Alshak,Jonathan Shoag,Aaron A. Laviana,Michael A. Gorin,Art Sedrakyan,Jim C. Hu +6 more
TL;DR: A comprehensive literature search for the cost of post-prostate biopsy sepsis is performed to define the potential cost savings of reducing infectious complications and should guide payers and policymakers, especially in value-based care models.
