Yb/Er-codoped and Yb-doped waveguide lasers in phosphate glass
David L. Veasey,David S. Funk,Philip M. Peters,Norman A. Sanford,Gregory E. Obarski,N. H. Fontaine,Matt Young,Adele P. Peskin,Wei Chih Liu,S.N. Houde-Walter,Joseph S. Hayden +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented experimental and theoretical results of the development of waveguide laser using rare-earth-doped phosphate glasses and demonstrated slope efficiencies near 30% with output powers approaching 200 mW for 1540 nm Fabry-Perot waveguide lasers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Segmentation Algorithms For Fluorescence Microscopy Images of Cells
Alden A. Dima,John T. Elliott,James J. Filliben,Michael Halter,Adele P. Peskin,Javier Bernal,Marcin Kociolek,Mary Brady,Hai C. Tang,Anne L. Plant +9 more
TL;DR: This study compares segmentation results from nine different segmentation techniques applied to two different cell lines and five different sets of imaging conditions and proposes a method that quantifies cell edge character to provide an estimate of how accurately an algorithm will perform.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Improved Index of Image Quality for Task-based Performance of CT Iterative Reconstruction across Three Commercial Implementations
O Christianson,Joseph J. Chen,Z Yang,Ganesh Saiprasad,Alden A. Dima,James J. Filliben,Adele P. Peskin,Christopher Trimble,Eliot L. Siegel,Ehsan Samei +9 more
TL;DR: The results of this study indicate that the d' improves less than the CNR with the use of IR, which indicates less potential for IR dose reduction than previously thought.
Journal ArticleDOI
Informatics Infrastructure for the Materials Genome Initiative
Alden A. Dima,Sunil Bhaskarla,Chandler A. Becker,Mary Brady,Carelyn E. Campbell,Philippe Dessauw,Robert J. Hanisch,Ursula R. Kattner,Kenneth Kroenlein,Marcus W Newrock,Adele P. Peskin,Raymond Plante,Shengyen Li,Pierre-François Rigodiat,Guillaume Sousa Amaral,Zachary T. Trautt,Xavier Schmitt,James A. Warren,Sharief Youssef +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe two high-level requirements of such an infrastructure as well as an emerging open-source implementation consisting of the Materials Data Curation System and the National Institute of Standards and Technology Materials Resource Registry.
Journal ArticleDOI
FogBank: a single cell segmentation across multiple cell lines and image modalities
Joe Chalfoun,Michael Majurski,Alden A. Dima,Christina H. Stuelten,Adele P. Peskin,Mary Brady +5 more
TL;DR: A new automated segmentation method called FogBank is presented that accurately separates cells when confluent and touching each other and is based on morphological watershed principles with two new features to improve accuracy and minimize over-segmentation.
