Journal ArticleDOI

Yb/Er-codoped and Yb-doped waveguide lasers in phosphate glass

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented experimental and theoretical results of the development of waveguide laser using rare-earth-doped phosphate glasses and demonstrated slope efficiencies near 30% with output powers approaching 200 mW for 1540 nm Fabry-Perot waveguide lasers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of Segmentation Algorithms For Fluorescence Microscopy Images of Cells

TL;DR: This study compares segmentation results from nine different segmentation techniques applied to two different cell lines and five different sets of imaging conditions and proposes a method that quantifies cell edge character to provide an estimate of how accurately an algorithm will perform.
Journal ArticleDOI

Informatics Infrastructure for the Materials Genome Initiative

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe two high-level requirements of such an infrastructure as well as an emerging open-source implementation consisting of the Materials Data Curation System and the National Institute of Standards and Technology Materials Resource Registry.
Journal ArticleDOI

FogBank: a single cell segmentation across multiple cell lines and image modalities

TL;DR: A new automated segmentation method called FogBank is presented that accurately separates cells when confluent and touching each other and is based on morphological watershed principles with two new features to improve accuracy and minimize over-segmentation.
