TL;DR: An approach that generates several billion bases of accurate nucleotide sequence per experiment at low cost is reported, effective for accurate, rapid and economical whole-genome re-sequencing and many other biomedical applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fiber grating sensors
Alan D. Kersey,Michael A. Davis,Heather Patrick,Michel LeBlanc,K.P. Koo,Charles G. Askins,Martin A. Putnam,E.J. Friebele +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review the recent developments in the area of optical fiber grating sensors, including quasi-distributed strain sensing using Bragg gratings, systems based on chirped gratings and intragrating sensing concepts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiplexed fiber Bragg grating strain-sensor system with a fiber Fabry–Perot wavelength filter
TL;DR: The use of a fiber Fabry–Perot filter for detecting the wavelength shift of a Fiber Bragg grating sensor or network of sensor elements along a common fiber path is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of the response of long period fiber gratings to external index of refraction
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate that the change in wavelength of a long period fiber grating attenuation band with changes in external index of refraction can be enhanced by proper selection of the grating period.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hybrid fiber Bragg grating/long period fiber grating sensor for strain/temperature discrimination
TL;DR: In this paper, the difference in strain and temperature response of fiber Bragg gratings and a long period fiber grating was used to discriminate between strain induced and temperature induced wavelength shifts.
