Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of viable myocardium in patients with chronic coronary artery disease and left ventricular dysfunction. Comparison of thallium scintigraphy with reinjection and PET imaging with 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose.
TL;DR: Thallium imaging can be used to identify viable myocardium in patients with chronic coronary artery disease and left ventricular dysfunction and most irreversible defects with only mild or moderate reduction in thallium activity represent viableMyocardium as confirmed by FDG uptake.
Journal ArticleDOI
EANM/ESC procedural guidelines for myocardial perfusion imaging in nuclear cardiology
Birger Hesse,Kristina Tägil,Alberto Cuocolo,Constantinos Anagnostopoulos,Manuel Bardiès,Jeroen J. Bax,Frank M. Bengel,E. Busemann Sokole,G. Davies,Maurizio Dondi,Lars Edenbrandt,Philippe R. Franken,Andreas Kjaer,Juhani Knuuti,Michael Lassmann,Michael Ljungberg,Claudio Marcassa,Pierre-Yves Marie,F. McKiddie,Michael K. O'Connor,Elizabeth Prvulovich,Richard Underwood,B. L. F. van Eck-Smit +22 more
TL;DR: The European procedural guidelines for radionuclide imaging of myocardial perfusion and viability are presented in 13 sections covering patient information, radiopharmaceuticals, injected activities and dosimetry, stress tests, imaging protocols and acquisition, quality control and reconstruction methods, and positron emission tomography.
Journal ArticleDOI
The appropriate and justified use of medical radiation in cardiovascular imaging: a position document of the ESC Associations of Cardiovascular Imaging, Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions and Electrophysiology
Eugenio Picano,Eliseo Vano,Eliseo Vano,Madan M. Rehani,Alberto Cuocolo,Lluís Mont,Vicente Bodi,Olivier Bar,Carlo Maccia,Luc Pierard,Rosa Sicari,Sven Plein,Heiko Mahrholdt,Patrizio Lancellotti,Juhani Knuuti,Hein Heidbuchel,Carlo Di Mario,Luigi P. Badano +17 more
TL;DR: A European perspective on the best way to play an active role in implementing into clinical practice the key principle of radiation protection that: 'each patient should get the right imaging exam, at the right time, with the right radiation dose'.
Journal ArticleDOI
EANM procedural guidelines for radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging with SPECT and SPECT/CT: 2015 revision
Hein J. Verberne,Wanda Acampa,Constantinos Anagnostopoulos,Jim Ballinger,Frank M. Bengel,Pieter De Bondt,Ronny R. Buechel,Alberto Cuocolo,Berthe L. F. van Eck-Smit,Albert Flotats,Marcus Hacker,Cecilia Hindorf,Philip A. Kaufmann,Oliver Lindner,Michael Ljungberg,Markus Nowak Lonsdale,Alain Manrique,David Minarik,Arthur J.H.A. Scholte,Riemer H. J. A. Slart,Elin Trägårdh,Tim C. de Wit,Birger Hesse +22 more
TL;DR: The major changes from the updated 2015 procedural guidelines for radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging are highlighted, focusing on the important changes related to new instrumentation with improved image information and the possibility to reduce radiation exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Left ventricular hypertrophy and impaired diastolic filling in essential hypertension. Diastolic mechanisms for systolic dysfunction during exercise.
Alberto Cuocolo,Frederick L. Sax,John E. Brush,Barry J. Maron,Stephen L. Bacharach,Robert O. Bonow +5 more
TL;DR: Left ventricular ejection fraction is normal at rest but may respond abnormally to exercise in many patients with essential hypertension, and impaired diastolic filling in patients in group 2 was associated with less augmentation in end-diastolic volume during exercise compared with group 1.
