Journal ArticleDOI
A Pharmacogenomic-based Antidepressant Treatment for Patients with Major Depressive Disorder: Results from an 8-week, Randomized, Single-blinded Clinical Trial.
Changsu Han,Sheng Min Wang,Won Myong Bahk,Soo-Jung Lee,Ashwin A. Patkar,Prakash S. Masand,Laura Mandelli,Chi-Un Pae,Chi-Un Pae,Alessandro Serretti +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that PGATx may be a better treatment option in the treatment of MDD in terms of effectiveness and tolerability; however, study shortcomings may limit a generalization.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dysbindin gene (DTNBP1) and schizophrenia in Korean population.
Chi-Un Pae,Chi-Un Pae,Laura Mandelli,Diana De Ronchi,Jung-Jin Kim,Tae-Youn Jun,Ashwin A. Patkar,Alessandro Serretti +7 more
TL;DR: A possible protective effect of rare DTNBP1 variants in schizophrenia is suggested, although subsequent studies in different ethnic groups are warranted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacogenetics of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor response: a 6-month follow-up.
Alessandro Serretti,Raffaella Zanardi,Linda Franchini,Paola Artioli,Danilo Dotoli,Adele Pirovano,Enrico Smeraldi +6 more
TL;DR: Some subjects showing remission after acute treatment relapsed within 6 months, despite undertaking a maintenance treatment; the causes could be heterogeneous, but CLOCK gene variants may influence the outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early improvement and response to antidepressant medications in adults with major depressive disorder. Meta-analysis and study of a sample with treatment-resistant depression.
Paolo Olgiati,Alessandro Serretti,Daniel Souery,Markus Dold,Siegfried Kasper,Stuart Montgomery,Joseph Zohar,Julien Mendlewicz +7 more
TL;DR: Although literature data suggest a correlation between an initial improvement of depressive symptoms and later response and remission during AD treatment, the analysis shows that such an early improvement is not a reliable outcome predictor in TRD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Catechol-o-methyltransferase and Alzheimer's disease: a review of biological and genetic findings.
TL;DR: Findings suggest that research should focus on the role of COMT in AD pathogenesis and on the feasibility of targeting COMT activity in AD treatment, and that COMT inhibitors block beta-amyloid fibrils in vitro.
