Journal ArticleDOI
The prognostic and therapeutic implications of distinct patterns of argininosuccinate synthase 1 (ASS1) and arginase-2 (ARG2) expression by cancer cells and tumor stroma in non-small-cell lung cancer
TL;DR: In this paper, the expression of two major enzymes involved in arginine depletion and replenishment, namely arginase ARG2 and argininosuccinate synthase ASS1, were examined in a series of 98 NSCLCs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Angiogenic Activities after Urethral Reconstruction Using Free Grafts in Rabbits
Stefanos Gardikis,Alexandra Giatromanolaki,Petros Ypsilantis,Sotiris Botaitis,Sabach Perente,Aikaterini Kambouri,Eleftheria Efstathiou,S. Antypas,Alexandros Polychronidis,Stavros Touloupidis,Efthimios Sivridis,Constantinos Simopoulos +11 more
TL;DR: The viability of mucosal grafts from bladder or buccal regions is better than that of a free penile graft because of higher angiogenic activity.
Journal Article
Abdominal wall endometriosis--ultrasound research: a diagnostic problem.
G. Alexiadis,Maria Lambropoulou,Savas Deftereos,Alexandra Giatromanolaki,Efthimios Sivridis,J. Manavis +5 more
TL;DR: A case of a young woman with subcutaneous endometriosis under the surgical scar of a previous cesarean section is described and physical examination, ultrasound findings, histopathological features and differential diagnostic problems are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Angiogenesis and apoptosis-related protein (p53, bcl-2, and bax) expression versus response of gastric adenocarcinomas to paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy
Alexandra Giatromanolaki,George P. Stathopoulos,M I Koukourakis,S. K. Rigatos,Eleni Vrettou,Ch. Kittas,George Fountzilas,Efthimios Sivridis +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that although apoptosis‐related proteins may have a role in defining response to taxanes, parameters related to tumors' vasculature, such as drug availability or angiogenic tissue regeneration, may be equally important.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of CD47 and SIRPα Macrophage Immune-Checkpoint Pathway in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer
Alexandra Giatromanolaki,Achilleas Mitrakas,Ioannis Anestopoulos,Andreas Kontosis,Ioannis M. Koukourakis,Aglaia Pappa,Mihalis I. Panayiotidis,Michael I. Koukourakis +7 more
TL;DR: The expression of CD47/SIRPα molecules in a series of 98 NSCLCs, in parallel with the infiltration of tumor stroma by CD68+ macrophages, tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), and PD-L1/PD-1 molecules found that extensive membranous CD47 expression by cancer cells characterized 29/98 cases.
