Journal ArticleDOI
Promoter methylation of argininosuccinate synthetase-1 sensitises lymphomas to arginine deiminase treatment, autophagy and caspase-dependent apoptosis
Barbara Delage,Phuong Luong,Lenushka Maharaj,Ciaran O'Riain,Nelofer Syed,Tim Crook,Eleftheria Hatzimichael,Alexandra Papoudou-Bai,Tracey J. Mitchell,Sean Whittaker,Rino Cerio,John G. Gribben,Nicholas R. Lemoine,John S. Bomalaski,C-F Li,Simon P. Joel,Jude Fitzgibbon,L-T Chen,L-T Chen,Peter W. Szlosarek +19 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that the demethylating agent 5-Aza-dC reactivated ASS1 expression and rescued lymphoma cell lines from ADI-PEG20 cytotoxicity and represents a novel biomarker for evaluating the efficacy of arginine deprivation in patients with lymphoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Persistent KSHV Infection Increases EBV-Associated Tumor Formation In Vivo via Enhanced EBV Lytic Gene Expression
Donal McHugh,Nicole Caduff,Mário Henrique M. Barros,Patrick C. Rämer,Ana Raykova,Anita Murer,Vanessa Landtwing,Isaak Quast,Christine T. Styles,Michael Spohn,Adeola Fowotade,Henri Jacques Delecluse,Alexandra Papoudou-Bai,Yong Moon Lee,Jin-Man Kim,Jaap M. Middeldorp,Thomas F. Schulz,Ethel Cesarman,Andrea Zbinden,Riccarda Capaul,Robert E. White,Martin J. Allday,Gerald Niedobitek,David J. Blackbourn,Adam Grundhoff,Christian Münz +25 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that KSHV augments EBV-associated tumorigenesis via stimulation of lytic EBV replication, and the role of EBV co-infection in PEL development have been hampered by the absence of small animal models.
Journal ArticleDOI
The prolyl-hydroxylase EGLN3 and not EGLN1 is inactivated by methylation in plasma cell neoplasia.
Eleftheria Hatzimichael,Aggeliki Dasoula,Reshma Shah,Nelofer Syed,Alexandra Papoudou-Bai,Helen M. Coley,George Dranitsaris,Konstantinos L. Bourantas,Justin Stebbing,Tim Crook +9 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that the prolyl‐hydroxylases may be a novel class of potential tumour suppressors in plasma cell neoplasia that warrant further investigation with regard to their potential utility as biomarkers.
Journal Article
Primary lymphomas of bone.
Panagiotis Kitsoulis,Marianna Vlychou,Alexandra Papoudou-Bai,Georgios Karatzias,Antonia Charchanti,Niki J. Agnantis,Maria Bai +6 more
TL;DR: There is circumstancial evidence that primary NHL of bone may represent tumors of post-germinal center B-cells, which could be due to the fact that, during normal B-cell differentiation, the bone marrow is the normal site of homing of plasma cells which are terminally-differentiated, immunoglobulin-secreting post-Germinal Center B- cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression patterns of the activator protein-1 (AP-1) family members in lymphoid neoplasms.
TL;DR: The main purpose of this review is the analysis of the expression patterns of AP-1 transcription factors in order to gain insight into the histophysiology of lymphoids tissues and the pathology of lymphoid malignancies.
