First Pass Effect: A New Measure for Stroke Thrombectomy Devices.
Osama O. Zaidat,Alicia C. Castonguay,Italo Linfante,Rishi Gupta,C Martin,William E. Holloway,Nils Mueller-Kronast,Joey English,Guilherme Dabus,Tim W. Malisch,Franklin A. Marden,Hormozd Bozorgchami,Andrew R. Xavier,Ansaar T Rai,Michael T. Froehler,Aamir Badruddin,Thanh N. Nguyen,M. Asif Taqi,Michael G. Abraham,Albert J. TL;DR: The achievement of complete revascularization from a single Solitaire thrombectomy device pass (FPE) is associated with significantly higher rates of good clinical outcome and the FPE is more frequently associated with the use of balloon guide catheters and less likely to be achieved with internal carotid artery terminus occlusion.
Journal ArticleDOI
TREVO stent-retriever mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke secondary to large vessel occlusion registry.
Osama O. Zaidat,Osama O. Zaidat,Alicia C. Castonguay,Raul G. Nogueira,Diogo C Haussen,Joey English,Sudhakar R Satti,Jennifer Chen,Hamed Farid,Candace Borders,Erol Veznedaroglu,Mandy J. Majjhoo,Mouhammed R Kabbani,Michael T. Froehler,Ira J. Finch,Sameer A. Ansari,Roberta Novakovic,Thanh N. Nguyen +30 more
TL;DR: The TRACK Registry results demonstrate the generalizability of the recent thrombectomy RCTs in real-world clinical practice and no differences in clinical and angiographic outcomes were shown between patients treated within the AHA/ASA guidelines and those treated outside the recommendations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predictors of Mortality in Acute Ischemic Stroke Intervention: Analysis of the North American Solitaire Acute Stroke Registry
Italo Linfante,Gail Walker,Alicia C. Castonguay,Guilherme Dabus,Amy K Starosciak,Albert J. Yoo,Alex Abou-Chebl,Gavin W. Britz,Franklin A. Marden,Alexandria Alvarez,Rishi Gupta,Chun Huan J. Asif Taqi,Michael G. Abraham,Vallabh Janardhan,Hashem Shaltoni,Roberta Novakovic,Peng R Chen,Ritesh Kaushal,Ashish Nanda,Mohammad A. Issa,Raul G Nogueira,Osama O. Zaidat +33 more
TL;DR: Proximal occlusion (internal carotid artery or vertebrobasilar), initial National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale≥18, use of rescue therapy, and 3+ passes (P<0.10) were associated with mortality in recanalized patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Real-world stent retriever thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke beyond 6 hours of onset: analysis of the NASA and TRACK registries.
Maxim Mokin,Alex Abou-Chebl,Alicia C. Castonguay,Raul G Nogueira,Joey English,Hamed Farid,Rishi Gupta,Coleman O. Martin,William E. Holloway,Diogo C Haussen,Nils Mueller-Kronast,Osama O. Zaidat +11 more
TL;DR: Real-world experience with patients with anterior circulation AIS treated with the Solitaire and Trevo thrombectomy devices beyond the first 6 hours of symptom onset proved to be equally safe and effective as for patients with symptom onset within the first six hours.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of a Mixed Meal Test for Diagnosis and Characterization of PancrEaTogEniC DiabeTes Secondary to Pancreatic Cancer and Chronic Pancreatitis: Rationale and Methodology for the DETECT Study From the Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer.
Phil A. Hart,Dana K. Andersen,Kieren J. Mather,Alicia C. Castonguay,Alicia C. Castonguay,Mandeep Bajaj,Melena D. Bellin,David Bradley,Noemy Contreras,Aida Habtezion,Murray Korc,Yogish C. Kudva,Maxim S. Petrov,David C. Whitcomb,Dhiraj Yadav,Ying Yuan,Jo Ann Rinaudo,Sudhir Srivastava,Jose Serrano,Mark O. Goodarzi +19 more
TL;DR: The DETECT study is a multicenter study that will examine differences in hormone and glucose excursions after a mixed meal test and create a biorepository that will be used to evaluate novel diagnostic biomarkers for differentiating these diabetes subtypes.
