Is there Evidence for Flat Cores in the Halos of Dwarf Galaxies?: The Case of NGC 3109 and NGC 6822
Octavio Valenzuela,George Rhee,Anatoly Klypin,Fabio Governato,Fabio Governato,Gregory S. Stinson,Thomas P. Quinn,James Wadsley +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used detailed cosmologically motivated numerical models to investigate the systematics and the accuracy of recovering parameters of the galaxies and showed that the rotation curves of these two galaxies are instead quite compatible with their DM halos having steep cuspy density profiles.
Journal ArticleDOI
Velocity bias in a LCDM model
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors use N-body simulations to study the velocity bias of dark matter halos, measured as a ratio of pairwise velocities of the halos to that of the dark matter, in a flat low-density LCDM model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Redshift-space clustering of SDSS galaxies – luminosity dependence, halo occupation distribution, and velocity bias
Hong Guo,Hong Guo,Zheng Zheng,Idit Zehavi,Idit Zehavi,Peter Behroozi,Chia-Hsun Chuang,Johan Comparat,Ginevra Favole,Ginevra Favole,Stefan Gottloeber,Anatoly Klypin,Francisco Prada,Francisco Prada,David H. Weinberg,Gustavo Yepes +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the measurements and modelling of the small-to-intermediate scale ( 0.1 − 25h 1 Mpc) projected and three-dimensional (3D) redshift-space two-point correlation functions (2PCFs) of local galaxies in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Large Dark Matter Core in the Fornax Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy
Louis E. Strigari,James S. Bullock,Manoj Kaplinghat,Andrey V. Kravtsov,Oleg Y. Gnedin,Kevork N. Abazajian,Anatoly Klypin +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the stellar velocity dispersion profile of the Fornax dwarf spheroidal galaxy was used to derive constraints on its dark matter distribution, and it was shown that a large 1 kpc dark matter core in the Fornas galaxy is highly implausible.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modelling galaxy clustering: halo occupation distribution versus subhalo matching
Hong Guo,Hong Guo,Zheng Zheng,Peter Behroozi,Idit Zehavi,Idit Zehavi,Chia-Hsun Chuang,Johan Comparat,Ginevra Favole,Ginevra Favole,Stefan Gottloeber,Anatoly Klypin,Anatoly Klypin,Francisco Prada,Francisco Prada,Sergio Rodríguez-Torres,Sergio Rodríguez-Torres,David H. Weinberg,Gustavo Yepes +18 more
TL;DR: It is found that the HOD model generally provides the best performance in reproducing the clustering measurements in both projected and redshift spaces, and extends the SHAM model to the subhalo clustering and abundance matching (SCAM) by allowing the central and satellite galaxies to have different galaxy-halo relations.
