Circulation-driven variability of Atlantic anthropogenic carbon transports and uptake
Peter J. Brown,Elaine L. McDonagh,Elaine L. McDonagh,Richard Sanders,Richard Sanders,Andrew J. Watson,Rik Wanninkhof,Brian A. King,David A. Smeed,Molly O. Baringer,Christopher S. Meinen,Ute Schuster,Andrew Yool,Marie-José Messias +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors quantify the strength and variability of Canth transports across 26.5°N in the North Atlantic between 2004 and 2012 using circulation measurements from the RAPID mooring array and hydrographic observations.
Journal ArticleDOI
On the provenance of hinged-hinged frequencies in Timoshenko beam theory
TL;DR: In this paper, an exact differential equation governing the motion of an axially loaded Timoshenko beam supported on a two-parameter, distributed foundation is presented, and an alternative, precise approach, that models Timoshenko theory efficiently, but eliminates the possibility of a second spectrum, is then described and used to confirm the original eigenvalues.
Book ChapterDOI
EDTree: Emotional Dialogue Trees for Game Based Training
TL;DR: A novel dialogue system that explores the emotional state of the NPC to provide a more complex form of dialogue tree, termed EDTree (Emotional Dialogue Tree), will provide an immersive experience based around improved believability of virtual characters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exploring Tandem Ruthenium-Catalyzed Hydrogen Transfer and SNAr Chemistry
Kurt Polidano,Benjamin G. Reed-Berendt,Anaïs Basset,Andrew J. Watson,Jonathan M. J. Williams,Louis C. Morrill +5 more
TL;DR: A hydrogen-transfer strategy for the catalytic functionalization of benzylic alcohols via electronic arene activation, accessing a diverse range of bespoke diaryl ethers and aryl amines in excellent isolated yields is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurements of total alkalinity and inorganic dissolved carbon in the Atlantic Ocean and adjacent Southern Ocean between 2008 and 2010
Ute Schuster,Ute Schuster,Andrew J. Watson,Andrew J. Watson,Dorothee C. E. Bakker,A. M. de Boer,A. M. de Boer,E. M. Jones,E. M. Jones,Gareth A. Lee,O. Legge,A. Louwerse,A. Louwerse,J. Riley,S. Scally +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, water column dissolved inorganic carbon and total alkalinity data collected along east-west sections at 47° N to 60° N, 24.5° N and 24° S in the Atlantic and across two Drake Passage sections.
