Journal ArticleDOI
Coexistence of LMPP-like and GMP-like Leukemia Stem Cells in Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Nicolas Goardon,Emanuele Marchi,Ann Atzberger,Lynn Quek,Anna Schuh,Shamit Soneji,Petter S. Woll,Adam J. Mead,Kate A. Alford,R Rout,Salma Chaudhury,Amanda F. Gilkes,Steven Knapper,Kheira Beldjord,Suriya Begum,Susan Rose,Nicola Geddes,Mike Griffiths,Graham R. Standen,Alexander Sternberg,Jamie Cavenagh,Hannah Hunter,David G. Bowen,Sally Killick,L. G. Robinson,Andrew Price,Elizabeth Macintyre,Paul Virgo,Alan Kenneth Burnett,Charles Craddock,Tariq Enver,Sten Eirik W. Jacobsen,Catherine Porcher,Paresh Vyas +33 more
TL;DR: It is shown that in ∼80% of primary human CD34+ acute myeloid leukemia (AML), two expanded populations with hemopoietic progenitor immunophenotype coexist in most patients, suggesting that in most cases primaryCD34+ AML is a progenitors disease where LSCs acquire abnormal self-renewal potential.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of patient age at intervention on risk of implant revision after total replacement of the hip or knee: a population-based cohort study
L E Bayliss,David Culliford,A Paul Monk,Sion Glyn-Jones,Daniel Prieto-Alhambra,Daniel Prieto-Alhambra,Daniel Prieto-Alhambra,Andrew Judge,Andrew Judge,Cyrus Cooper,Cyrus Cooper,Andrew Carr,Nigel K Arden,Nigel K Arden,David J Beard,Andrew Price +15 more
TL;DR: The evidence challenges the increasing trend for more total hip replacements and total knee replacements to be done in the younger patient group, and these data should be offered to patients as part of the shared decision making process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid recovery after oxford unicompartmental arthroplasty through a short incision.
TL;DR: Accuracy of implantation, assessed from 11 variables seen on fluoroscopically centered postoperative radiographs, was the same after UCA by the short-incision approach as after the open approach, suggesting that theshort-term advantage of increased speed of recovery was gained without affecting the long-term results.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxford medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty. A survival analysis of an independent series.
U. C. G. Svärd,Andrew Price +1 more
TL;DR: The outcome of a series of 124 Oxford meniscal-bearing unicompartmental arthroplasties carried out for osteoarthritis of the medial compartment in Sweden is described, showing that this implant is a reliable treatment for anteromedial osteo arthritis of the knee.
Journal ArticleDOI
Meaningful changes for the Oxford hip and knee scores after joint replacement surgery
David J Beard,Kristina Harris,Jill Dawson,Helen Doll,David W. Murray,Andrew Carr,Andrew Price +6 more
TL;DR: Estimates of clinically meaningful or minimal important changes for the Oxford Hip Score (OHS) and the Oxford Knee Score (OKS) after joint replacement surgery are produced and these estimates should be used in the power calculations and the interpretation of studies using the OKS and OHS.
