Rainfall Erosivity in Europe
Panos Panagos,Cristiano Ballabio,Pasquale Borrelli,Katrin Meusburger,Andreas Klik,Svetla Rousseva,Melita Perčec Tadić,Silas Michaelides,Michaela Hrabalíková,Preben Olsen,Juha Aalto,Mónika Lakatos,Anna Rymszewicz,Alexandru Dumitrescu,Santiago Beguería,Christine Alewell +15 more
TL;DR: The erosivity density (erosivity normalised to annual precipitation amounts) was the highest in Mediterranean regions which implies high risk for erosive events and floods, and Gaussian Process Regression has been used to interpolate the R-factor station values to a European rainfall erOSivity map at 1 km resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping monthly rainfall erosivity in Europe
Cristiano Ballabio,Pasquale Borrelli,Jonathan Spinoni,Katrin Meusburger,Silas Michaelides,Santiago Beguería,Andreas Klik,Sašo Petan,Miloslav Janeček,Preben Olsen,Juha Aalto,Mónika Lakatos,Anna Rymszewicz,Alexandru Dumitrescu,Melita Perčec Tadić,Nazzareno Diodato,Julia Kostalova,Svetla Rousseva,Kazimierz Banasik,Christine Alewell,Panos Panagos +20 more
TL;DR: The Cubist model has been selected among various statistical models to perform the spatial interpolation due to its excellent performance, ability to model non-linearity and interpretability, and the performance of the Cubist models proved to be generally high.
Journal ArticleDOI
Robust biological nitrogen removal by creating multiple tides in a single bed tidal flow constructed wetland
TL;DR: It was revealed that the multiple "tides" not only promoted TN removal performance, but also brought more flexibility to TFCW, which will provide a new foundation for the design and modeling of nitrogen conversion and oxygen transfer in TFCWs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Monthly Rainfall Erosivity: Conversion Factors for Different Time Resolutions and Regional Assessments
Panos Panagos,Pasquale Borrelli,Jonathan Spinoni,Cristiano Ballabio,Katrin Meusburger,Santiago Beguería,Andreas Klik,Silas Michaelides,Sašo Petan,Michaela Hrabalíková,Preben Olsen,Juha Aalto,Mónika Lakatos,Anna Rymszewicz,Alexandru Dumitrescu,Melita Perčec Tadić,Nazzareno Diodato,Julia Kostalova,Svetla Rousseva,Kazimierz Banasik,Christine Alewell +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the spatial patterns of monthly rainfall erosivity in European Union and Switzerland and investigated the regions and seasons under threat of rainfall ero-sivity.
Journal ArticleDOI
The impact of cattle access on ecological water quality in streams: Examples from agricultural catchments within Ireland.
E. Conroy,Jonathan N. Turner,Anna Rymszewicz,John O'Sullivan,Michael Bruen,Damian Lawler,Heather Lally,Mary Kelly-Quinn +7 more
TL;DR: The results presented highlight the need for additional research to further define the site specific factors and livestock management practices that increase the risk of impact on aquatic ecology due to these cattle-river interactions.
