Journal ArticleDOI

Sex Differences in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention-Insights From the Coronary Angiography and PCI Registry of the German Society of Cardiology.

TL;DR: Despite identical technical success rates of PCI between the 2 sexes, women with PCI for ST elevation myocardial infarction have a 20% higher age‐adjusted risk of death and of ischemic cardiac and cerebrovascular events.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oral antidiabetic treatment in type-2 diabetes in the elderly: balancing the need for glucose control and the risk of hypoglycemia

TL;DR: Elderly patients are at an increased risk of hypoglycemia even at comparable glycemic control, such as heart failure, clinically relevant depression, sulfonylurea use and blood glucose self-measurement, according to the relation to HbA1c values achieved.
Journal ArticleDOI

Early eptifibatide improves TIMI 3 patency before primary percutaneous coronary intervention for acute ST elevation myocardial infarction: results of the randomized integrilin in acute myocardial infarction (INTAMI) pilot trial.

TL;DR: In this pilot trial, double bolus eptifibatide given in the emergency room improved TIMI 3 grade flow of the infarct-related coronary artery before PCI and whether this advantage translates into an improvement in clinical outcome should be tested in a trial with primary clinical endpoints.
