Journal ArticleDOI
Sex Differences in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention-Insights From the Coronary Angiography and PCI Registry of the German Society of Cardiology.
Tobias Heer,Matthias Hochadel,Karin Schmidt,Julinda Mehilli,Ralf Zahn,Karl-Heinz Kuck,Christian W. Hamm,Michael Böhm,Georg Ertl,Hans Martin Hoffmeister,Stefan Sack,Jochen Senges,Steffen Massberg,Anselm K. Gitt,Uwe Zeymer +14 more
TL;DR: Despite identical technical success rates of PCI between the 2 sexes, women with PCI for ST elevation myocardial infarction have a 20% higher age‐adjusted risk of death and of ischemic cardiac and cerebrovascular events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oral antidiabetic treatment in type-2 diabetes in the elderly: balancing the need for glucose control and the risk of hypoglycemia
TL;DR: Elderly patients are at an increased risk of hypoglycemia even at comparable glycemic control, such as heart failure, clinically relevant depression, sulfonylurea use and blood glucose self-measurement, according to the relation to HbA1c values achieved.
Journal ArticleDOI
CRT Survey II: a European Society of Cardiology survey of cardiac resynchronisation therapy in 11 088 patients—who is doing what to whom and how?
Kenneth Dickstein,Kenneth Dickstein,Camilla Normand,Camilla Normand,Angelo Auricchio,Nigussie Bogale,John G.F. Cleland,Anselm K. Gitt,Christoph Stellbrink,Stefan D. Anker,Stefan D. Anker,Gerasimos Filippatos,Maurizio Gasparini,Gerhard Hindricks,Carina Blomström Lundqvist,Piotr Ponikowski,Frank Ruschitzka,Giovanni Luca Botto,Alan Bulava,Alan Bulava,Gabor Z. Duray,Carsten W. Israel,Christophe Leclercq,Peter Margitfalvi,Óscar Cano,Chris Plummer,Nedim Umutay Sarigul,Maciej Sterliński,Cecilia Linde +28 more
TL;DR: A second prospective survey is designed to describe contemporary clinical practice regarding CRT and large individual, national and regional differences in patient selection, implantation practice and follow-up are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cholesterol target value attainment and lipid-lowering therapy in patients with stable or acute coronary heart disease: Results from the Dyslipidemia International Study II
Anselm K. Gitt,Dominik Lautsch,Jean Ferrières,Gaetano M. De Ferrari,Ami Vyas,Carl A. Baxter,Lori D. Bash,Veronica Ashton,Martin Horack,Wael Almahmeed,Fu-Tien Chiang,Kian Keong Poh,Philippe Brudi,Baishali M. Ambegaonkar +13 more
TL;DR: Few of these very high-risk patients achieved the LDL-C target, indicating huge potential for improving cardiovascular outcome by use of more intensive LLT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early eptifibatide improves TIMI 3 patency before primary percutaneous coronary intervention for acute ST elevation myocardial infarction: results of the randomized integrilin in acute myocardial infarction (INTAMI) pilot trial.
Uwe Zeymer,Ralf Zahn,Rudolf Schiele,Wolfgang Jansen,Ernst Girth,Anselm K. Gitt,Karlheinz Seidl,Rolf Schröder,Steffen Schneider,Jochen Senges +9 more
TL;DR: In this pilot trial, double bolus eptifibatide given in the emergency room improved TIMI 3 grade flow of the infarct-related coronary artery before PCI and whether this advantage translates into an improvement in clinical outcome should be tested in a trial with primary clinical endpoints.
