Amphibole “sponge” in arc crust?
TL;DR: In this article, amphibole is used as a filter for water dissolved in mantle-derived arc magmas, and amphibole cumulates may act as a fertile source of intracrustal melts and fluids.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pleistocene cave art from Sulawesi, Indonesia
Maxime Aubert,Maxime Aubert,Adam Brumm,Adam Brumm,Muhammad Ramli,Thomas Sutikna,E. W. Saptomo,Budianto Hakim,Michael J Morwood,G. D. van den Bergh,Leslie Kinsley,Anthony Dosseto +11 more
TL;DR: It can now be demonstrated that humans were producing rock art by ∼40 kyr ago at opposite ends of the Pleistocene Eurasian world.
Journal ArticleDOI
The age of Homo naledi and associated sediments in the Rising Star Cave, South Africa
Paul H.G.M. Dirks,Paul H.G.M. Dirks,Eric M. Roberts,Eric M. Roberts,Hannah L. Hilbert-Wolf,Jan Kramers,John Hawks,John Hawks,Anthony Dosseto,Mathieu Duval,Marina Elliott,Mary Evans,Rainer Grün,Rainer Grün,John Hellstrom,Andy I.R. Herries,Renaud Joannes-Boyau,Tebogo V. Makhubela,Christa Placzek,Jessie Robbins,Carl Spandler,Jelle P. Wiersma,Jon Woodhead,Lee R. Berger +23 more
TL;DR: These age results demonstrate that a morphologically primitive hominin, Homo naledi, survived into the later parts of the Pleistocene in Africa, and indicate a much younger age for the Homo nalingi fossils than have previously been hypothesized based on their morphology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Revised stratigraphy and chronology for Homo floresiensis at Liang Bua in Indonesia
Thomas Sutikna,Matthew W. Tocheri,Matthew W. Tocheri,Michael J Morwood,E. Wahyu Saptomo,Jatmiko,Rokus Due Awe,Sri Wasisto,Kira E. Westaway,Maxime Aubert,Maxime Aubert,Bo Li,Jian-xin Zhao,Michael Storey,Brent V. Alloway,Brent V. Alloway,Mike W. Morley,Hanneke J. M. Meijer,Hanneke J. M. Meijer,Gerrit D. van den Bergh,Rainer Grün,Rainer Grün,Anthony Dosseto,Adam Brumm,Adam Brumm,William L. Jungers,Richard G. Roberts +26 more
TL;DR: New stratigraphic and chronological evidence from Liang Bua is reported that does not support the ages inferred previously for the H. floresiensis holotype, or the time of last appearance of this species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Geophysical constraints on deep weathering and water storage potential in the Southern Sierra Critical Zone Observatory
W. Steven Holbrook,Clifford S. Riebe,Mehrez Elwaseif,J. L. Hayes,Kyle Basler-Reeder,Dennis L. Harry,Armen Malazian,Anthony Dosseto,P. C. Hartsough,Jan W. Hopmans +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used seismic refraction and resistivity imaging techniques to estimate variations in regolith thickness and porosity across a forested slope and swampy meadow in the Southern Sierra Critical Zone Observatory (SSCZO).
