D-dimer as a biomarker for assessment of COVID-19 prognosis: D-dimer levels on admission and its role in predicting disease outcome in hospitalized patients with COVID-19.
Ayusha Poudel,Yashasa Poudel,Anurag Adhikari,Barun Babu Aryal,Debika Dangol,Tamanna Bajracharya,Anil Maharjan,Rakshya Gautam +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, D-dimer was measured using immunofluorescence assay and reported in Fibrinogen Equivalent Unit (μg/ml) and the receiver operating characteristic curve was used to determine the accuracy of admission Ddimer in predicting mortality, and to calculate the optimal cutoff value, based on which patients were divided into two groups and predictive value of D -dimer for mortality was measured.
Journal ArticleDOI
Maintenance of broad neutralizing antibodies and memory B cells 1 year post-infection is predicted by SARS-CoV-2-specific CD4+ T cell responses
Harikrishnan Balachandran,Chansavath Phetsouphanh,David Agapiou,Anurag Adhikari,Chaturaka Rodrigo,Mohamed A. Hammoud,Lok Bahadur Shrestha,Elizabeth Keoshkerian,Money Gupta,Stuart Turville,Daniel Christ,Cecile King,Sarah C. Sasson,Adam W. Bartlett,Branka Grubor-Bauk,William D. Kelleher,Nicodemus Tedla,Andrew R. Lloyd,Marianne Martinello,Rowena A. Bull +31 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined the long-term maintenance of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) immunity and the association of disease severity and early immune responses on the maintenance of humoral immunity 12 months post-infection.

Evaluation of sensitivity and specificity of ELISA against Widal test for typhoid diagnosis in endemic population of Kathmandu
Anurag Adhikari,Ramanuj Rauniyar,Pramod Prasad Raut,Krishna Das Manandhar,Krishna Das Manandhar,Birendra Prasad Gupta,Birendra Prasad Gupta +6 more
TL;DR: Widal test is not sensitive enough for an endemic setting like Nepal and thus should be either replaced with more accurate test like ELISA or follow an alternative diagnostic methodology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence and risk of hepatitis E virus infection in the HIV population of Nepal.
Ananta Shrestha,Anurag Adhikari,Manjula Bhattarai,Ramanuj Rauniyar,Jose D. Debes,Andre Boonstra,Thupten Kelsang Lama,Mamun Al Mahtab,Amna Subhan Butt,Sheikh Mohammad Fazle Akbar,Nirmal Aryal,Sapana Karn,Krishna Das Manandhar,Birendra Prasad Gupta +13 more
TL;DR: Overall, individuals with HEV IgM positivity had higher levels of alanine aminotransferase than IgM negative subjects, suggesting active acute infection, and HIV-positive subjects living in Kathmandu are at higher risk of acquiring HEV infection as compared to the general population and to HIV- positive subjects living outside KathmandU.
