Comparative measurements with seven rainfall simulators on uniform bare fallow land

TL;DR: In this paper, seven portable rainfall simulators from Freiberg, Tubingen, Trier (all Germany), Valencia, Zaragoza (both Spain), Basel (Switzerland) and Wageningen (the Netherlands) were compared on a prepared bare fallow field.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seed losses by surface wash in degraded Mediterranean environments

TL;DR: In this paper, the susceptibility of seeds of 10 species to water erosion from an abandoned field and a badland site in SE Spain was determined, and seed losses were analyzed in relation to soil erosion rate and overland flow and to seed parameters such as seed size and form.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seed population dynamics on badland slopes in southeastern Spain

TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamics of seed population on slope surfaces were studied to test the hypothesis that the lack of vegetation on badlands is caused by seed removal by erosion, and it was suggested that other factors, such as those related to seed germination and seedling survival, may play an important role.
