The Early Repolarization Pattern in the General Population: Clinical Correlates and Heritability
Peter A. Noseworthy,Jani T. Tikkanen,Kimmo Porthan,Lasse Oikarinen,Arto Pietilä,Kennet Harald,Gina M. Peloso,Faisal M. Merchant,Antti Jula,Heikki Väänänen,Heikki Väänänen,Shih-Jen Hwang,Christopher J. O'Donnell,Veikko Salomaa,Christopher Newton-Cheh,Christopher Newton-Cheh,Heikki V. Huikuri +16 more
TL;DR: The early repolarization pattern (ERP) is defined as a J-point elevation ≥ 0.1 mV in ≥ 2 leads in either the inferior (II, III, aVF) or lateral (I, aVL, V4-6) territory or both.
Exome sequencing of Finnish isolates enhances rare-variant association power
Adam E. Locke,Karyn Meltz Steinberg,Charleston W. K. Chiang,Aki S. Havulinna,Laurel Stell,Matti Pirinen,Haley J. Abel,Colby Chiang,Robert S. Fulton,Anne U. Jackson,Chul Joo Kang,Krishna L. Kanchi,Daniel C. Koboldt,David E. Larson,Joanne Nelson,Thomas J. Nicholas,Arto Pietilä,Vasily Ramensky,Debashree Ray,Laura J. Scott,Heather M. Stringham,Jagadish Vangipurapu,Ryan P. Hall,Chiara Sabatti,Aarno Palotie,Veikko Salomaa,Markku Laakso,Samuli Ripatti,Michael Boehnke,Nelson B. Freimer +40 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of rare coding variants in clinically relevant quantitative cardiometabolic traits was investigated using exome-sequencing of nearly 20,000 individuals from these regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating Levels of Interleukin 1-Receptor Antagonist and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease: Meta-Analysis of Six Population-Based Cohorts.
Christian Herder,Tonia de las Heras Gala,Maren Carstensen-Kirberg,Cornelia Huth,Astrid Zierer,Simone Wahl,Julie Sudduth-Klinger,Kari Kuulasmaa,David Peretz,Symen Ligthart,Brenda Bongaerts,Abbas Dehghan,M. Arfan Ikram,A. Jula,Frank Kee,Arto Pietilä,Olli Saarela,Tanja Zeller,Stefan Blankenberg,Christa Meisinger,Annette Peters,Michael Roden,Veikko Salomaa,Wolfgang Koenig,Barbara Thorand +24 more
TL;DR: Serum IL-1RA levels were positively associated with risk of CVD after adjustment for multiple confounders in a meta-analysis of 6 population-based cohorts, suggesting this association may at least partially reflect a response to triggers inducing subclinical inflammation, oxidative stress, and endothelial activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Associations between interleukin-1 (IL-1) gene variations or IL-1 receptor antagonist levels and the development of type 2 diabetes.
Kari Luotola,Arto Pietilä,Tanja Zeller,Leena Moilanen,Mika Kähönen,Markku S. Nieminen,Y. A. Kesäniemi,Stefan Blankenberg,Antti Jula,Markus Perola,Markus Perola,Veikko Salomaa +11 more
TL;DR: Luotola et al. as mentioned in this paper examined whether interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) is a predictor for clinically incident diabetes in subjects with metabolic syndrome (MetS) and whether its predictive power is independent of C-reactive protein (CRP), an established marker of inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI
A meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies of the electrocardiographic early repolarization pattern
Moritz F. Sinner,Moritz F. Sinner,Moritz F. Sinner,Kimmo Porthan,Peter A. Noseworthy,Peter A. Noseworthy,Aki S. Havulinna,Jani T. Tikkanen,Martina Müller-Nurasyid,Gina M. Peloso,Gina M. Ellinor,Heikki V. Huikuri,Stefan Kääb,Christopher Newton-Cheh,Christopher Newton-Cheh,Veikko Salomaa +50 more
TL;DR: A meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies to identify common genetic variants influencing ERP failed to reliably identify genetic variants predisposing to ERP, presumably due to insufficient statistical power and phenotype heterogeneity.
