The essential genome of Escherichia coli K-12

TL;DR: It is shown that manual analysis of TraDIS data reveals novel features that would not have been detected by statistical analysis alone that will assist genome annotation of less well characterized genomes and provides new insights into bacterial physiology and biochemistry.

The essential genome of Escherichia coli K-12

TL;DR: A better understanding of the essential genes of E. coli is provided, manual analysis of TraDIS data reveals novel features that would not have been detected by statistical analysis alone and a provides new standard for the analysis ofTraDIS data is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Novel aspects of the acid response network of E. coli K-12 are revealed by a study of transcriptional dynamics.

TL;DR: This approach has identified new components in this system that lead to complex dynamics of gene expression following a drop in pH, including an auto-regulatory loop involving the YdeO activator protein and novel roles for the PhoP protein.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coherent imaging using laser feedback interferometry with pulsed-mode terahertz quantum cascade lasers

TL;DR: This work demonstrates pulsed-mode swept-frequency laser feedback interferometry experimentally, and demonstrates that the proposed system utilising microsecond pulses has the potential to achieve 0.25 mega-pixel per second acquisition rates, paving the pathway to video frame rate THz imaging.
