Journal ArticleDOI

The surgical management of chronic subdural hematoma

TL;DR: An overview of the epidemiology and pathophysiology of cSDH is provided and several controversial management issues are discussed, including the timing of post-operative resumption of anticoagulant medications, the effectiveness of anti-epileptic prophylaxis, protocols for mobilization following evacuation of c SDH, as well as the comparative effectiveness of the various techniques of surgical evacuation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mutations in IDH1 , IDH2 , and in the TERT promoter define clinically distinct subgroups of adult malignant gliomas

TL;DR: It is hypothesized and show that genetic signatures capable of distinguishing among several types of gliomas could be established providing clinically relevant information that can serve as an adjunct to histopathological diagnosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preoperative antiepileptic drug administration and the incidence of postoperative seizures following bur hole-treated chronic subdural hematoma.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that preoperative AED prophylaxis likely reduces the incidence of postoperative seizures in patients with CSDH treated with bur hole drainage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cic Loss Promotes Gliomagenesis via Aberrant Neural Stem Cell Proliferation and Differentiation.

TL;DR: An important role for Cic is defined in regulating neural cell proliferation and lineage specification, and mechanistic explanations for how CIC mutations may impact the pathogenesis and therapeutic targeting of oligodendroglioma are suggested.
