TL;DR: Caldwell et al. as mentioned in this paper provided an overview of the coupled high-resolution version 1 of the Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SMv1) and documents the characteristics of a 50-year-long highresolution control simulation with time-invariant 1950 forcings following the HighResMIP protocol.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Autotuning Stencil-Based Computations on GPUs
TL;DR: This work extends the standard diagonal sparse matrix representation and defines new matrix and vector data types in the PETSc parallel numerical toolkit and creates tunable CUDA implementations of the operations associated with these types after identifying a number of GPU-specific optimizations and tuning parameters for these operations.
Journal ArticleDOI
An MPI/OpenACC implementation of a high-order electromagnetics solver with GPUDirect communication:
Matthew Otten,Matthew Otten,Jing Gong,Azamat Mametjanov,Aaron Vose,John Levesque,Paul Fischer,Paul Fischer,Misun Min +8 more
TL;DR: Performance results and an analysis of a message passing interface/OpenACC implementation of an electromagnetic solver based on a spectral-element discontinuous Galerkin discretization of the time-dependent Maxwell equations show more than 2.5× speedup over central processing unit-only performance on the same number of nodes.
