Journal ArticleDOI

Consequences of the interaction of calcium with dioleoylphosphatidate-containing model membranes: calcium-membrane and membrane-membrane interactions

TL;DR: Experiments on the behaviour of monomolecular films at an air/water interface show that calcium-phosphatidate binding results in a decrease in the area of the polar region of the phosphatidate molecule, probably caused by headgroup dehydration and partial charge neutralization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transbilayer movement of phosphatidylcholine in the mitochondrial outer membrane of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is rapid and bidirectional.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate the occurrence of rapid bidirectional transbilayer movement of both endogenous and in vitro introduced PC in OMV, and there appears to be no preference for mitochondrial import of PC synthesized by either of the pathways in vivo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protective effect of nifedipine in myocardial ischemia assessed by phosphorus-31 nuclear magnetic resonance.

TL;DR: The results indicate that nifedipine protects the myocardium against the metabolic consequences of ischemia and reperfusion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phosphorus nuclear magnetic resonance of Acholeplasma laidlawii cell membranes and derived liposomes

TL;DR: Results indicate that either no strong lipid polar headgroup-protein interactions occur in the membrane or that the lipid-protein "complexes" in the membranes have a fast rotation (Tc shorter than 10(-6)S) along an axis perpendicular to the plane of the membrane.
