Journal ArticleDOI
Social cognition over time in individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis: Findings from the NAPLS-2 cohort.
Danijela Piskulic,Lu Liu,Kristin S. Cadenhead,Tyrone D. Cannon,Barbara A. Cornblatt,Thomas H. McGlashan,Diana O. Perkins,Larry J. Seidman,Ming T. Tsuang,Elaine F. Walker,Scott W. Woods,Carrie E. Bearden,Daniel H. Mathalon,Jean Addington +13 more
TL;DR: This longitudinal study demonstrated mild to moderate, but persistent ToM and social perception impairments in those at CHR for psychosis compared to HCs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sexual dimorphisms and prediction of conversion in the NAPLS psychosis prodrome
Deborah J. Walder,Carrie W. Holtzman,Jean Addington,Kristin S. Cadenhead,Ming T. Tsuang,Barbara A. Cornblatt,Tyrone D. Cannon,Thomas H. McGlashan,Scott W. Woods,Diana O. Perkins,Larry J. Seidman,Robert K. Heinssen,Elaine F. Walker +12 more
TL;DR: A contemporary, multidimensional model of psychosis risk is speculated that posits a role of sexually dimorphic, genetically linked influences that converge with a modulating role of gonadal hormones across a temporally sensitive neurodevelopmental trajectory towards conferring risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predictors of remission, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder in adolescents with brief psychotic disorder or psychotic disorder not otherwise specified considered at very high risk for schizophrenia.
Christoph U. Correll,Christopher W. Smith,Andrea M. Auther,Danielle McLaughlin,Manoj R. Shah,Carmel Foley,Ruth Olsen,Todd Lencz,John M. Kane,Barbara A. Cornblatt +9 more
TL;DR: Results from this preliminary study suggest that patients with PsyNOS, BrPsy, or schizotypal personality disorder features in adolescence should be followed as separate risk groups in prodromal studies of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reliability of functional magnetic resonance imaging activation during working memory in a multi-site study: analysis from the North American Prodrome Longitudinal Study
Jennifer K. Forsyth,Sarah McEwen,Dylan G. Gee,Carrie E. Bearden,Jean Addington,Brad Goodyear,Kristin S. Cadenhead,Heline Mirzakhanian,Barbara A. Cornblatt,Doreen M. Olvet,Daniel H. Mathalon,Thomas H. McGlashan,Diana O. Perkins,Aysenil Belger,Larry J. Seidman,Heidi W. Thermenos,Ming T. Tsuang,Theo G.M. van Erp,Elaine F. Walker,Stephan Hamann,Scott W. Woods,Maolin Qiu,Tyrone D. Cannon +22 more
TL;DR: Brain activation during working memory function was reliable across the NAPLS sites and both the IBMA and mixed effects model with site covariance methods appear to be valid approaches for aggregating data across sites, indicating that multi-site functional neuroimaging can offer a reliable means to increase power and generalizability when investigating brain function in rare populations.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Severity-Based Clinical Staging Model for the Psychosis Prodrome: Longitudinal Findings From the New York Recognition and Prevention Program
Ricardo E. Carrión,Ricardo E. Carrión,Christoph U. Correll,Andrea M. Auther,Barbara A. Cornblatt +4 more
TL;DR: A novel 4-stage severity-based model with a focus on clinical change over time and risk for conversion to psychosis is validated, providing a more finely grained classification system than the standard diagnostic approach for prodromal individuals.
