Method and apparatus for detecting CPM-modulated information symbols
TL;DR: In this paper, CPM-modulated information symbols are demodulated after being transmitted through an AWGN channel, using only partial whitened matched filtering, whereby finite pulses are produced which, however, are still accompanied by interferences in the form of remaining colored noise which can be approximately converted into white noise by a successive additional whitening filter so that the noise power will be minimized.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Low computational complexity mode division multiplexed ofdm transmission over 130 km of few mode fiber
Beril Inan,Yongmin Jung,Vincent A. J. M. Sleiffer,Maxim Kuschnerov,L. Nielsen,Susmita Adhikari,Sander L. Jansen,David J. Richardson,Shaif-ul Alam,Bernhard Spinnler,Norbert Hanik +10 more
TL;DR: It is confirmed that OFDM can significantly reduce the required DSP complexity to compensate for differential mode delay, a key step towards real-time MDM transmission.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Record field demonstration of C-band multi-terabit 16QAM, 32QAM and 64QAM over 762km of SSMF
Talha Rahman,Danish Rafique,Bernhard Spinnler,Erwan Pincemin,Claude Le Bouette,Jeremie Jauffrit,Stefano Calabro,Erik De Man,Sylvain Bordais,Uwe Feiste,Juraj Slovak,Antonio Napoli,Ginni Khanna,Norbert Hanik,Celine Andre,Chigo Okonkwo,Maxim Kuschnerov,A.M.J. Koonen,Christian Dourthe,Bruno Raguenes,Bernd Sommerkorn-Krombholz,Marc Bohn,Huug de Waardt +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate a record 38.4Tb/s 64QAM C-band transmission over 762km of field deployed SSMF fiber, connecting Lyon and Marseille, France, employing hybrid EDFA-Raman amplification and achieve a spectral efficiency of 8 b/s/Hz.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modeling nonlinear phase noise in differentially phase-modulated optical communication systems
L.D. Coelho,Lutz Molle,Dirk Gross,Norbert Hanik,Ronald Freund,Christoph Caspar,E.-D. Schmidt,Bernhard Spinnler +7 more
TL;DR: The numerical method is based on the well known Karhunen-Lo;eve expansion combined with a linearization technique of the Nonlinear Schr odinger Equation (NLSE) to account for the nonlinear interaction between signal and noise.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Recent advances on polarization multiplexing
TL;DR: Structures for equalization in coherent receivers with polarization multiplexing with single and multi carrier approaches are reviewed and compared in terms of computation complexity.
