Journal ArticleDOI
A large-scale chloroplast phylogeny of the Lamiaceae sheds new light on its subfamilial classification.
Bo Li,Philip D. Cantino,Richard G. Olmstead,Gemma L. C. Bramley,Chun-Lei Xiang,Zhong-Hui Ma,Yun-Hong Tan,Dianxiang Zhang +7 more
TL;DR: A large-scale phylogenetic reconstruction of Lamiaceae using chloroplast sequences was carried out with the most comprehensive sampling of the family to date, revealing five strongly supported, more inclusive clades that contain subfamilies that are given phylogenetically defined, unranked names.
Journal ArticleDOI
An updated tribal classification of Lamiaceae based on plastome phylogenomics
Fei Zhao,Ya Ping Chen,Yasaman Salmaki,Bryan T. Drew,Trevor C. Wilson,Anne-Cathrine Scheen,Ferhat Celep,Ferhat Celep,Christian Bräuchler,Mika Bendiksby,Mika Bendiksby,Qiang Wang,Dao Zhang Min,Hua Peng,Richard G. Olmstead,Bo Li,Chun-Lei Xiang +16 more
TL;DR: This article performed phylogenetic analyses of Lamiaceae to infer relationships at the tribal level using 79 protein-coding plastid genes from 175 accessions representing 170 taxa, 79 genera, and all 12 subfamilies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The antiquity of Cyclocarya paliurus (Juglandaceae) provides new insights into the evolution of relict plants in subtropical China since the late Early Miocene
Yixuan Kou,Shanmei Cheng,Shuang Tian,Bo Li,Deng-Mei Fan,Yongjun Chen,Douglas E. Soltis,Douglas E. Soltis,Pamela S. Soltis,Zhi-Yong Zhang +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the occurrence of the Asian monsoon and associated tectonic events, as well as Pleistocene climate changes, had a pervasive influence on the phylogeographical structure of plants in subtropical China.
Journal ArticleDOI
Repeated range expansions and inter-/postglacial recolonization routes of Sargentodoxa cuneata (Oliv.) Rehd. et Wils. (Lardizabalaceae) in subtropical China revealed by chloroplast phylogeography.
Shuang Tian,Shu-Qing Lei,Wan Hu,Ling-Li Deng,Bo Li,Qing-Lin Meng,Douglas E. Soltis,Pamela S. Soltis,Deng-Mei Fan,Zhi-Yong Zhang +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that temperate plants in subtropical China may conform to the EC model to some extent, however, the genetic signature from multiple historical processes may complicate the phylogeographic patterns of organisms in the region due to the mild Pleistocene climate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two new subfamilies in Lamiaceae
Bo Li,Richard G. Olmstead +1 more
TL;DR: Two new subfamilies are established within the mint family and their morphology, distribution, generic and species diversity, homotypic tribes, and phylogenetic position are noted.
