Journal ArticleDOI

The gene expression profiles of primary and metastatic melanoma yields a transition point of tumor progression and metastasis

TL;DR: The gene expression profiling of primary, non-metastatic cutaneous tumors and metastatic melanoma has resulted in the identification of several genes that may be centrally involved in the progression and metastasis potential of melanoma.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of Differentially Secreted Biomarkers using LC-MS/MS in Isogenic Cell Lines Representing a Progression of Breast Cancer

TL;DR: The protein with consistent association with aggressiveness in all lines, and in unrelated cancer cells, was the galectin-3-binding protein which has been associated with breast, prostate, and colon cancer earlier, supporting the approach and findings.
Journal ArticleDOI

The hedgehog pathway transcription factor GLI1 promotes malignant behavior of cancer cells by up-regulating osteopontin.

TL;DR: This study reports that expression of GLI1 and osteopontin increase progressively with the progression of melanoma from primary cutaneous cancer to metastatic melanoma in clinically derived specimens, and concludes that theGLI1-mediated up-regulation of OPN promotes malignant behavior of cancer cells.
