Journal ArticleDOI
A taxonomic note on the genus Lactobacillus: Description of 23 novel genera, emended description of the genus Lactobacillus Beijerinck 1901, and union of Lactobacillaceae and Leuconostocaceae.
Jinshui Zheng,Stijn Wittouck,Elisa Salvetti,Charles M. A. P. Franz,Hugh M. B. Harris,Paola Mattarelli,Paul W. O'Toole,Bruno Pot,Peter Vandamme,Jens Walter,Koichi Watanabe,Sander Wuyts,Giovanna E. Felis,Michael G. Gänzle,Michael G. Gänzle,Sarah Lebeer +15 more
TL;DR: This study evaluated the taxonomy of Lactobacillaceae and Leuconostocaceae on the basis of whole genome sequences and proposed reclassification reflects the phylogenetic position of the micro-organisms, and groups lactobacilli into robust clades with shared ecological and metabolic properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogenophaga, a new genus of hydrogen-oxidizing bacteria that includes Hydrogenophaga flava comb. nov. (formerly Pseudomonas flava), Hydrogenophaga palleronii (formerly Pseudomonas palleronii), Hydrogenophaga pseudoflava (formerly Pseudomonas pseudoflava and Pseudomonas carboxydoflava), and Hydrogenophaga taeniospiralis (formerly Pseudomonas taeniospiralis)
Anne Willems,J. Busse,M. Goor,Bruno Pot,Enevold Falsen,E. Jantzen,Bart Hoste,Monique Gillis,Karel Kersters,G. Auling,J. De Ley +10 more
TL;DR: The results show that these five yellow-pigmented hydrogen-oxidizing Pseudomonas species are more closely related to each other than to other taxa belonging to the acidovorans rRNA complex.
Journal ArticleDOI
Classification of Pseudomonas diminuta Leifson and Hugh 1954 and Pseudomonas vesicularis Büsing, Döll, and Freytag 1953 in Brevundimonas gen. nov. as Brevundimonas diminuta comb. nov. and Brevundimonas vesicularis comb. nov., respectively
Paul Segers,M. Vancanneyt,Bruno Pot,U Torck,Bart Hoste,Dirk Dewettinck,Enevold Falsen,Karel Kersters,P. De Vos +8 more
TL;DR: The results of DNA-rRNA hybridization studies indicated that these two species belong to a separate genus in the alpha subclass (rRNA superfamily IV) of the Proteobacteria, for which the name Brevundimonas is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acidovorax, a new genus for Pseudomonas facilis, Pseudomonas delafieldii, E. Falsen (EF) group 13, EF group 16, and several clinical isolates, with the species Acidovorax facilis comb. nov., Acidovorax delafieldii comb. nov., and Acidovorax temperans sp. nov.
Anne Willems,Enevold Falsen,Bruno Pot,E. Jantzen,Bart Hoste,Peter Vandamme,Monique Gillis,Karel Kersters,J. De Ley +8 more
TL;DR: These organisms form a separate group within the acidovorans rRNA complex, and it is proposed to transfer them to a new genus, Acidovorax.
Journal ArticleDOI
Commercial Probiotic Products: A Call for Improved Quality Control. A Position Paper by the ESPGHAN Working Group for Probiotics and Prebiotics
Sanja Kolaček,Iva Hojsak,Roberto Berni Canani,Alfredo Guarino,Flavia Indrio,Rok Orel,Bruno Pot,Raanan Shamir,Hania Szajewska,Yvan Vandenplas,Johannes B. van Goudoever,Zvi Weizman +11 more
TL;DR: The aim of the Working Group was to summarize results of the studies looking into the quality of the probiotic products and to raise the awareness of the important issue of their quality control.
