David E. Tunkel,Carol A. Bauer,Gordon H. Sun,Richard M. Rosenfeld,Sujana S. Chandrasekhar,Eugene R. Cunningham,Sanford M. Archer,Brian W. Blakley,John M. Carter,Evelyn C. Granieri,James A. Henry,Deena B Hollingsworth,Fawad A. Khan,Scott Mitchell,Ashkan Monfared,Craig W. Newman,Folashade Omole,C. Douglas Phillips,Shannon K. Robinson,Malcolm B. Taw,Richard S. Tyler,Richard W. Waguespack,Elizabeth J. Whamond +22 more
TL;DR: This guideline provides clinicians with a logical framework to improve patient care and mitigate the personal and social effects of persistent, bothersome tinnitus.
Journal ArticleDOI
MR imaging and spectroscopy using hyperpolarized 129Xe gas: preliminary human results.
John P. Mugler,Bastiaan Driehuys,James R. Brookeman,Gordon D. Cates,Stuart S. Berr,Robert G. Bryant,Thomas M. Daniel,Eduard E. de Lange,J. Hunter Downs,Christopher J. Erickson,William Happer,Denise P. Hinton,Neal F. Kassel,Therese Maier,C. Douglas Phillips,Brian Saam,Karen L. Sauer,Mark E. Wagshul +17 more
TL;DR: The results suggest the feasibility of dissolved‐phase imaging of both the chest and brain with a resolution similar to that obtained with the gas‐phase images.
Journal ArticleDOI
Suppurative intracranial complications of sinusitis
TL;DR: The diagnosis of suppurative intracranial complications of sinusitis requires a high index of suspicion and confirmation by imaging, and central to the success of treatment is the management of the primary source of sepsis within the paranasal sinuses in combination with neurosurgical drainage and intravenous antibiotics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calcified Carotid Atherosclerotic Plaque Is Associated Less with Ischemic Symptoms Than Is Noncalcified Plaque on MDCT
TL;DR: MDCT angiography may help risk-stratify patients with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis and may have implications for the interpretation of calcification of atherosclerotic plaque in other vascular beds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Carotid artery calcification on CT may independently predict stroke risk.
Kiran R. Nandalur,Erol Baskurt,Klaus D. Hagspiel,Michael Finch,C. Douglas Phillips,Sirisha R. Bollampally,Christopher M. Kramer +6 more
TL;DR: Calcium scores in the cervical carotid arteries may represent an independent marker for luminal stenosis and ischemic symptoms and a prospective longitudinal study examining calcium levels and morbidity may be warranted to examine whether burden has a role in risk stratification.
