Journal ArticleDOI
Multi axis differential optical absorption spectroscopy (MAX-DOAS)
TL;DR: In this paper, a Monte Carlo RTM is applied to calculate Airmass Factors (AMF) for the various viewing geometries of MAX-DOAS, which can be used to quantify the light path length within the absorber layers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of box-air-mass-factors and radiances for Multiple-Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (MAX-DOAS) geometries calculated from different UV/visible radiative transfer models
Thomas Wagner,Thomas Wagner,John P. Burrows,T. Deutschmann,B. Dix,C. von Friedeburg,Udo Frieß,F. Hendrick,Klaus-Peter Heue,Hitoshi Irie,Hironobu Iwabuchi,Yugo Kanaya,Johannes Keller,Chris A. McLinden,Hilke Oetjen,Elisa Palazzi,Andrea Petritoli,U. Platt,Oleg V. Postylyakov,Janis Pukite,Andreas Richter,M. Van Roozendael,A. Rozanov,Vladimir Rozanov,R. Sinreich,S. Sanghavi,Folkard Wittrock +26 more
TL;DR: In this article, the results of a comparison exercise of radiative transfer models (RTM) of various international research groups for multiple AXis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (MAX-DOAS) viewing geometry are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
UV‐visible observations of atmospheric O4 absorptions using direct moonlight and zenith‐scattered sunlight for clear‐sky and cloudy sky conditions
TL;DR: In this article, the relative shape of the observed absorption bands is similar to those of the O4 spectrum measured by Greenblatt et al. in the laboratory, except for the absorption band at 380.2 nm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intercomparison exercise between different radiative transfer models used for the interpretation of ground-based zenith-sky and multi-axis DOAS observations
François Hendrick,M. Van Roozendael,Arve Kylling,A. Petritoli,A. Rozanov,S. Sanghavi,Robyn Schofield,Robyn Schofield,C. von Friedeburg,Tanja Wagner,Folkard Wittrock,D. Fonteyn,M. De Mazière +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of an intercomparison exer- cise between six different radiative transfer (RT) models car- ried out in the framework of QUILT, an EU funded project based on the exploitation of the Network for the Detection of Stratospheric Change (NDSC).
Journal ArticleDOI
Balloon-borne limb profiling of UV/vis skylight radiances, O 3 , NO 2 , and BrO: technical set-up and validation of the method
F. Weidner,H. Bösch,H. Bösch,Heinrich Bovensmann,John P. Burrows,André Butz,André Butz,Claude Camy-Peyret,Marcel Dorf,Konstantin Gerilowski,W. Gurlit,U. Platt,C. von Friedeburg,Tanja Wagner,Klaus Pfeilsticker +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, a light-weight, elevation scanning and absolutely calibrated UV/vis spectrometer and its application to balloon-borne limb radiance and trace gas profile measurements is described.
