Journal ArticleDOI
Manganese(II) complexes with thiosemicarbazones as potential anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis agents
Carolina G. Oliveira,Pedro I. S. Maia,Paula Carolina de Souza,Fernando Rogério Pavan,Clarice Queico Fujimura Leite,Rommel B. Viana,Alzir A. Batista,Otaciro R. Nascimento,Victor M. Deflon +8 more
TL;DR: The results evidenced that the compounds described here can be considered as promising anti-M.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gold(III) complexes with ONS-Tridentate thiosemicarbazones: Toward selective trypanocidal drugs.
Andressa R. Rettondin,Zumira A. Carneiro,Ana Cristina Gonçalves,Vanessa Fernandes Ferreira,Carolina G. Oliveira,Angélica Nakagawa Lima,Ronaldo Junio de Oliveira,Sérgio de Albuquerque,Victor M. Deflon,Pedro I. S. Maia +9 more
TL;DR: Docking studies showed that free ligands and complexes interact with the same residues of the parasite protease cruzain but with different intensities, suggesting that this protease could be a possible target for the trypanocidal action of the obtained compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pt-II, Pd-II and Au-III complexes with a thiosemicarbazone derived from diacethylmonooxime: Structural analysis, trypanocidal activity, cytotoxicity and first insight into the antiparasitic mechanism of action
Ana Cristina Gonçalves,Zumira A. Carneiro,Carolina G. Oliveira,Amanda Danuello,Wendell Guerra,Ronaldo Junio de Oliveira,F. Ferreira,Laudimir L.W. Veloso-Silva,Fernanda Aparecida Heleno Batista,Júlio César Borges,Sérgio de Albuquerque,Victor M. Deflon,Pedro I. S. Maia +12 more
TL;DR: The results showed that complexation of the thiosemicarbazone ligand H2L1 to PtII, PdII and AuIII metal centers enhances the in vitro trypanocidal activity and that the cytotoxicity is dependent on both the metal center and coligands.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thermo-solvatochromism in binary mixtures of water and ionic liquids: on the relative importance of solvophobic interactions
TL;DR: To test the applicability of a recently introduced solvation model, and to assess the relative importance of solute-solvent solvophobic interactions, the thermo-solvatochromism of MePMBr(2), has been studied in mixtures of water, W, with ionic liquids, ILs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Palladium(II) complexes with thiosemicarbazones derived from pyrene as topoisomerase IB inhibitors
Carolina G. Oliveira,Carolina G. Oliveira,Isolda Romero-Canelón,Isolda Romero-Canelón,Monize M. da Silva,James P. C. Coverdale,Pedro I. S. Maia,Alzir A. Batista,Silvia Castelli,Alessandro Desideri,Peter J. Sadler,Victor M. Deflon +11 more
TL;DR: Cellular accumulation and distribution studies confirmed that palladium enters the cell nucleus, and DNA and topoisomerase IB studies show that one complex is a potent TopIB inhibitor, with selectivity for cancer versus normal cells.
