Journal ArticleDOI

Development and validation of a modelling framework for simulating 2D-mammography and breast tomosynthesis images

TL;DR: Two image simulation chains constructed using modelling tools that can be used for the evaluation of 2D-mammography and DBT systems are presented and it is suggested that the simulation approach is a promising alternative to conventional physical performance assessment followed by large scale clinical trials.
Book ChapterDOI

Comparison of breast doses for digital tomosynthesis estimated from patient exposures and using PMMA breast phantoms

TL;DR: It is concluded that the use of standard PMMA phantoms of appropriate thicknesses (as used for 2D dosimetry) to simulate the breast in DBT provides a reasonable estimate of the AGD.
Book ChapterDOI

A European Protocol for Technical Quality Control of Breast Tomosynthesis Systems

TL;DR: Four specific QC tests for DBT, which have reached an (almost) final stage, are presented: reproducibility, system projection MTF, z-resolution and missed tissue at the top and bottom of the reconstructed volume.
Book ChapterDOI

Development of a quality control protocol for digital breast tomosynthesis systems in the TOMMY trial

TL;DR: Seven Hologic Dimensions digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) systems installed for the TOMMY trial, a UK based multi-centre trial comparing conventional 2D digital mammography with DBT, were found to be well matched.
