Journal ArticleDOI
Development and validation of fast Real-Time PCR assays for species identification in raw and cooked meat mixtures
TL;DR: Five species-specific Real-Time PCR protocols were developed, standardised and validated for the identification of turkey, chicken, beef, pork and sheep meat in complex food products to evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Infection sustained by lineage B.1.1.7 of SARS-CoV-2 is characterised by longer persistence and higher viral RNA loads in nasopharyngeal swabs.
Paolo Calistri,Laura Amato,Ilaria Puglia,Francesca Cito,Alessandra Di Giuseppe,Maria Luisa Danzetta,Daniela Morelli,Marco Di Domenico,Marialuigia Caporale,Silvia Scialabba,Ottavio Portanti,Valentina Curini,Fabrizia Perletta,Cesare Cammà,Massimo Ancora,Giovanni Savini,Giacomo Migliorati,Nicola D'Alterio,Alessio Lorusso +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the results of RT-PCR on nasopharyngeal swabs tested from December 2020 to February 2021 were investigated to verify any difference on the viral load and persistence between people infected by lineage B.1.7 and others.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel putative Bluetongue virus in healthy goats from Sardinia, Italy.
Giovanni Savini,Giantonella Puggioni,Giorgio Meloni,Maurilia Marcacci,Marco Di Domenico,Angela Maria Rocchigiani,Massimo Spedicato,Annalisa Oggiano,Daniela Manunta,Liana Teodori,Alessandra Leone,Ottavio Portanti,Francesca Cito,Annamaria Conte,Massimiliano Orsini,Cesare Cammà,Paolo Calistri,Armando Giovannini,Alessio Lorusso +18 more
TL;DR: The existence of a novel BTV serotype circulating in goats in Sardinia is proposed, and a specific RT-qPCR targeting Seg 2 of BTV-X ITL2015 was assessed in this study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differentiation between field and vaccine strain of bluetongue virus serotype 16.
TL;DR: The gene segments 2, 5, 6 and 10 of both the Italian and vaccine BTV-16 strains were sequenced and their molecular relationship determined and it was possible to develop a new diagnostic tool able to distinguish the Italian B TV-16 NS1 gene from that of the homologous vaccine strain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of a fast real-time PCR method to detect fraud and mislabeling in milk and dairy products
TL;DR: Fast real-time PCR TaqMan assays were developed and validated for species identification in dairy products and confirmed to be a useful tool for milk and dairy product authentication.
