Organosulfates as Tracers for Secondary Organic Aerosol (SOA) Formation from 2-Methyl-3-Buten-2-ol (MBO) in the Atmosphere
Haofei Zhang,David R. Worton,Michael Lewandowski,John Ortega,Caitlin L. Rubitschun,Jeong-Hoo Park,Kasper Kristensen,Pedro Campuzano-Jost,Douglas A. Day,Jose L. Jimenez,Mohammed Jaoui,John H. Offenberg,Tadeusz E. Kleindienst,Jessica B. Gilman,Jessica B. Gilman,William C. Kuster,Joost A. de Gouw,Joost A. de Gouw,Changhyoun Park,Gunnar W. Schade,Amanda A. Frossard,Lynn M. Russell,Lisa Kaser,Werner Jud,Armin Hansel,Luca Cappellin,Thomas Karl,Marianne Glasius,Alex Guenther,Allen H. Goldstein,John H. Seinfeld,Avram Gold,Richard M. Kamens,Jason D. Surratt +33 more
TL;DR: Chemical characterization of laboratory-generated MBO SOA reveals that an organosulfate species formed and was substantially enhanced with elevated aerosol acidity, demonstrating that it is a molecular tracer for MBO-initiated SOA in the atmosphere.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, the relative importance of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation pathways from isoprene at a forested site in California was investigated using a broad suite of chemical measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Importance of biogenic precursors to the budget of organic nitrates: observations of multifunctional organic nitrates by CIMS and TD-LIF during BEARPEX 2009
M. R. Beaver,M. R. Beaver,J. M. St. Clair,Fabien Paulot,K. M. Spencer,John D. Crounse,Brian W. LaFranchi,Brian W. LaFranchi,Kyung-Eun Min,Sally E. Pusede,Paul J. Wooldridge,Gunnar W. Schade,Changhyoun Park,Changhyoun Park,Ronald C. Cohen,Paul O. Wennberg +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe observations obtained during the BEARPEX 2009 experiment including ΣANs and a suite of multifunctional organic nitrates including isoprene derived hydroxynitrates, oxidation products of those nitrates, 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol (MBO) derived hydoxide, and monoterpene nitrates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characteristics of the flux of isoprene and its oxidation products in an urban area
TL;DR: In this paper, the mixing ratios and fluxes of isoprene and its oxidation products, methacrolein (MACR) and methyl vinyl ketone (MVK), were measured from a tall flux tower in metropolitan Houston, Texas, during summertime using a relaxed eddy accumulation (REA) system combined with a dual-channel GC-FID instrument.
Journal ArticleDOI
Flux measurements of volatile organic compounds by the relaxed eddy accumulation method combined with a GC-FID system in urban Houston, Texas
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a new relaxed eddy accumulation (REA) system combined with a dual-channel GC-FID used for VOC flux measurements, focusing on benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) results.
