Journal ArticleDOI
Sex differences in quality indicator attainment for myocardial infarction: a nationwide cohort study
Chris Wilkinson,Owen Bebb,Tatendashe B Dondo,Theresa Munyombwe,Barbara Casadei,Sarah C. Clarke,Francois Schiele,Adam Timmis,Marlous Hall,Chris P Gale +9 more
TL;DR: According to the ESC ACCA AMI quality indicators, women in England and Wales less frequently received guideline-indicated care and had significantly higher mortality than men, and greater attention to the delivery of recommended AMI treatments for women has the potential to reduce the sex-AMI mortality gap.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of atrial fibrillation for older people with frailty: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
TL;DR: There is evidence of an association between frailty status and OAC prescription, with different direction of effect in community compared with hospital cohorts, and frailty is common, and associated with adverse clinical outcomes in patients with AF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation and frailty: insights from the ENGAGE AF-TIMI 48 trial.
Chris Wilkinson,Jianhua Wu,Samuel D Searle,Samuel D Searle,Oliver Todd,Oliver Todd,Marlous Hall,Vijay Kunadian,Vijay Kunadian,Andrew Clegg,Andrew Clegg,Kenneth Rockwood,Kenneth Rockwood,Chris P Gale,Chris P Gale +14 more
TL;DR: Overall, with increasing frailty, there was an increase in stroke and bleeding risk and there is a need for high-quality, frailty-specific population randomised control trials to guide therapy in this vulnerable population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Atrial fibrillation and oral anticoagulation in older people with frailty: a nationwide primary care electronic health records cohort study.
Chris Wilkinson,Andrew Clegg,Oliver Todd,Oliver Todd,Kenneth Rockwood,Mohammad E Yadegarfar,Chris P Gale,Chris P Gale,Marlous Hall +8 more
TL;DR: Among older people in England, AF and stroke risk increased with increasing degree of frailty; however, OAC prescription approximated 50%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is the association between blood pressure and mortality in older adults different with frailty? A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Oliver Todd,Chris Wilkinson,Matthew D. Hale,Nee Ling Wong,Marlous Hall,James P Sheppard,Richard J McManus,Kenneth Rockwood,John Young,Chris P Gale,Andrew Clegg +10 more
TL;DR: Investigation of whether the association between blood pressure and clinical outcomes is different in older adults with and without frailty, using observational studies found no mortality difference for older people with frailty whose systolic blood pressure is <140 mm Hg, compared to those with a syStolicBlood pressure >140mm Hg.
