Journal ArticleDOI

A genetically encoded calcium indicator for chronic in vivo two-photon imaging

TL;DR: The genetically encoded calcium indicator TN-XXL allows repeated imaging of response properties from individual, identified neurons in vivo, which will be crucial for gaining new insights into cellular mechanisms of plasticity, regeneration and disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

Critical-Period Plasticity in the Visual Cortex

TL;DR: It is shown that plasticity in the visual cortex is present well before, and long after, the peak of the critical period and described the established mechanisms and point out where more experimental work is needed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elimination of Inhibitory Synapses Is a Major Component of Adult Ocular Dominance Plasticity

TL;DR: It is proposed that in the adult visual cortex the experience-induced loss of inhibition may effectively strengthen specific visual inputs with limited need for rearranging the excitatory circuitry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Restoration of early thymocyte differentiation in T-cell receptor beta-chain-deficient mutant mice by transmembrane signaling through CD3 epsilon.

TL;DR: It is shown that the CD4+8+ double-positive (DP) stage can be induced by treatment of fetal thymic organ cultures with anti-CD3 epsilon monoclonal antibodies in several TCR beta-chain-deficient mouse strains: severe combined immunodeficient mice, mice carrying a mutation in the recombination activating gene 1 (Rag-1), or micecarrying a deletion in the TCRbeta-chain locus itself.
